Has anyone made reusable food storage solutions? Been trying to cut down on waste and those mountain house meals, while convenient, produce a good amount of waste. I am researching material to make sandwich bags for everyday lunches but this conversation and one in a different thread reminded me about unnecessary waste when packing in.

Anyone have a Sierra Designs hookup? I'm gonna try and snag a Backcountry Bed next, I think.

I love my Esee-4. I put it through some stuff and it holds up. It's a good knife. I use it as a total tool. It's a hammer, an axe, a pry bar. I baton logs with it. It's pretty much the only thing I take with me when I go camping. My only wish is that I would have gotten the 5" version. I think I'm gonna save up and get a 5" Survive.

What have I done. I just pulled the trigger on the Zpacks Soloplex tent, the Arc Haul Zip pack, and the rain kilt. I just dropped my pack's base weight by 6# with just those 3 items.

Yes, I'm going to bed now.

I very nearly bought an Osprey Exos 48 myself last night, but I held out. Need to not spend money on gear right now since I am still recovering from my last spree!

You have much experience with this brand? Really lightweight but does it hold up well as far as a durability aspect? And did you say kilt?

How much did all that come out to? Haven't looked into their gear much but I have heard it's great.

It's not heavy nylon, but I got the Dyneema pack and it's their most durable lightweight fabric. No reason I won't get at least 2000 miles from the pack.

Yes, kilt. Rain kilt so you don't have to stop and put pants on over shoes. Just wrap it around your waist and keep moving. Lots of folks on the trail this year had them, and for good reason.

And I woke up this morning with zero regret. Can't wait to take delivery and do my first weigh-in after packing base weight.

Yeah, I almost bought the medium since it is has Prime shipping, but I didn't. Looks like I can fit with a medium or a large in that one.

So yesterday, a few of my friends and I decided to go camping and I thought I would try camping in the back of my truck. I know there are a lot of threads about REALLY getting into truck camping and spending a great deal of money to really have a nice setup. I am in college so I don't have a giant pile of cash to spend or a garage full of tools to make something. Are there any tips/tricks/suggestions that y'all have that might help me out? I will be camping near Wilmington, NC so the weather wont be terribly cold and I am an Eagle Scout so I have a lot of camping gear already.

Thanks so much for your insight!

Being an Eagle scout (congratulations!), I'm sure you're familiar with tent camping and what you need to bring for food/cooking/clothing/sleeping/shelter. Your truck is just your means of getting there, so pack accordingly. As far as sleeping in the bed goes, it's not comfortable because of the design of the bed of the truck unless you add a lot of padding or something flat like plywood to level out the humps. Also, I like to leave my gear in the bed of the truck in bins and I wouldn't want to have to unload it all just to sleep in the bed of the truck where I still need some sort of shelter over me, based on weather. Might as well just tent camp on the ground by the truck, or recline your front seat and sleep in the cab. Or, hang a hammock and tarp if you have the budget for it.
