thanks for everyone's response! I meant to say ECT... not HTC, I didn't even get 50% right LOL

@splitbolt are you referring to the truck bed or the engine cabin? My truck bed is empty at the moment. When I took it in to the dealership, their original response was the fuel pump injector is installed at a very odd place on the 3rd gen, the noise I hear is from that not the a/c, but they also told me the 2nd gen had a 3.0 L engine (even I knew I had a 4.0L...) /facepalm/

@Truggin @GotLost - do you keep the A/C running low and not hear that wind whispering / grinding noise?

Man I'd love to be the sales guy that gets to sell all these trucks without even going through the hassle of a test drive. Apparently people just come in, whip out their checkbook and say here's my 40 grand no need to see or drive it, I'm sure it's perfect!!

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
All I hear when the AC is on, is the normal fan sound. No grinding noise.

Yeah I have a '16 and no noise that I've heard from my AC either. However, I normally keep mine on medium to high range - and keep the left 3 vents open and the far right one closed unless my wife is with me.

I use the ECT button when merging into traffic or needing to accelerate quickly but it's off 95% of the time I am driving. I average around 22 MPG with mostly in-town driving and love my 2016. It's a much more "complete" truck for my needs/wants than my 2010 was. I love all the "tech" features, dash read out etc.

Traded in the last one, going to start modifying this soon.
I keep my AC at around 72/73 auto which does indeed equate to low volume of air. But I have turned it up every now and then and there was no grinding noise. Just the usual air vent sound .. it could just be that my ears are damaged by years of constant mud tires whomping in my earlier Jeep ...

Haha I wish. I did take a test drive but honestly you can't really fully evaluate it the way you might like. Even some dealers that have "off-road test area" those aren't much more than dirt roads you could drive with your eyes closed. We need giant boulder field and rock shelves to fully put Toyota's claims to the test right? Even the cids on youtube by the so-called reviewers readily admit they are newbies when it comes to off-roading. It looks like they run full street pressure for the rocks for crying out loud

There are cabin pressure vents on the wall of the cab behind the rear seats.
My sound was related to air balancing, so I was thinking; if it's not your vents, maybe it's the 'return plenum'.
Does it happen on recirculation mode?
