auto body HELP?

my 2016 Tacoma was bump in the door by a kid in a parking lot. he dent my door and rocker panel. the kids father told me to get a estimate. So I went to a guy who s worked on other cars for me so he looked I told him the story I told him I would go through insurance if nessary he told me it would cost 1900 and I asked new parts he said yes so I get the 1900 from the kid call the auto shop tolled him ill give him half the money order the parts then he said he didn't need partsi said you now want to pull my dents and bondo it I said and now that what he saying I told him is that what he would do to his own car but now I m fucked he told me it would cost me 300 more for a new door skin I'm so mad I could have got what ever I needed to fix my truck if he gave me the right estimate first and he refused togive me a written estimate that day

That my problem a kid hit me . When I went to body shop I asked him how much to fix with new parts . He said 1900 . I explained to him the situation kid has license 2 month. So these people were gonna pay out of pocket . He tells me 1900 but that day he told me new parts . So I get the 1900 from the guy . Call the auto body shop . I say I'll put up half so they can order parts . He then sez he doesn't need parts I said wait you said new parts now just he told me 300 more if I just want s new door skin and he still gonna bondo my rocker panel . You guys are sure sticklers for proper punctuation .

Get it fixed, show the final bill to the kids parents and ask them to pay the difference. It sounds like they were willing to cover the cost to begin with. Or if the shop hasn't started work yet, get a second estimate.

 

That looks like you could get paintless dent removal and buff and it might come right out. Hard to tell from the pics though.

 

You will need a door skin, it would take a master body man to get those contours back to factory. Then you have to blend and match paint. Not a cheep bump

 

You know what sucks. And what make it real hard. is they're neighbors to me! And what pisses me off. Is what the fuck is wrong with my body guy I have only 3k on my truck. Why in the world would he tell me it the best way to go pulling the dent

Maybe if you were planning on selling the truck right after. Otherwise no, I'd put a new door skin on it.

 

No. If a shop wants to do that then find another shop.

 

When I did autobody estimating about 10 years ago, 1 business card sized bit of damage:1 hour of work; not including paint! I would have quoted the skin and paint blend.

 

I'd find another body shop....Or at least get another estimate from another shop...Ask your local dealer who they use.

 

Get it fixed and eat the $300 to keep peace with the neighbor.

 

@Aw9d that what I'm thinking . But no matter what I'm telling the truth about the conversation me and the auto shop had I said OME parts he said yes . Now he wants a extra 300 for the door skin .the day I took it to the auto body he told me new parts . I don't want to fight with my neighbors . I'm gonna get a second estimate . ThAt first . Second I guess I'll be during someone for the giffrence in small claims court this blows.
