After over a month of sitting in my living room, the SCS Ray 10s (16x8) finally got mounted! Love the way the gunmetal looks with the Barcelona Red. Debated tires for the last two months and decided on the 255/85/16 Toyo Open Country MT. They have a pleasant hum rolling down the road, you can just hear them gripping. Can't wait to take them off the pavement.

** I am rubbing a little where the cab mount is. I am hoping (fingers crossed) my alignment can bump the wheel a little bit forward to relieve that. I will update when I have it done.

Edit: Alignment fixed all issues with rubbing for normal driving. Had the castor set for as much as possible and it pushed the wheels forward enough to clear the fender/cab mount area. Rub sometimes in reverse but nothing that bothers me.

Really liking the look of the 255s. Are you rubbing during normal street driving?

I only rub when fully turned (and its not much, 1/4" more and they'd clear), but fingers crossed I can get the tires moved forward when I have alignment done.

Looks great! Are you still on the stock Bilstein TRD OR shocks?

And those Ray 10s look awesome!

Ahh okay, I saw the yellow and was like "there's no way she's using the stock Bilsteins!". Haha

Looks great, glad you finally got it installed!

Nice work so far! Lift and wheels came out nice. It awesome to see someone using a brand new Tacoma for what it's built for.

    Subbed for more

Thank you, I truly appreciate that. I have been doing things slow, steady, and thoughtful. I probably overthink a lot of it. But for it being my first truck/Tacoma I want it to fulfill its purpose of my adventure vehicle the right way.

Thank you. My intent for this vehicle is to get me out exploring, accessing places not normally accessible by others, pushing me out of my comfort zone, learning new skills, and meeting new people and engaging a new community. So far I am accomplishing all those goals. Why buy a truck if you're not gonna maximize its potential?

Well said, and we're glad you're part of the Alabama community group! I'm ready to see a sweet 3rd gen in person tomorrow. Only ones I've seen are stock.

All clean with some fresh wax.
Tip - My pilot buddy let me in on a little secret. To remove bugs, use a drier sheet to remove them without scratching your paint. They come off much easier than trying to scrub with a sponge.

So purty! Just got. 2017 and want to throw money at it like there no tomorrow! :annoyed:
did you get the ome setup as a kit or pick or everything separate?
how much lift did you get?
How much did it cost you if you don't mind me askin?

Thinking about doing a leveling and going with 265/75r16 or 265/70r17 to not have the headache of lift/rubbing/loss of gas mileage but seeing this truck now I'm re thinking the whole modest approach!

What made you go with those tires?

Sorry for all the questions and feel free to tell me to F off lol (first time truck/taco owner) years of driving a wee corolla has taken a toll! :ballchain:

I'm glad to help. I ordered an OME kit from Toytec and picked which options I wanted. I paid the extra money to have the front shocks and coils assembled (I also found out after the fact that the trim packer for the drivers side also gets included in the assembly and I didn't look for it and accidentally installed my driver's side shock on the passengers side :/ ). So that put me at around $1300. I also ordered Total Chaos UCAs and those were pretty expensive (~$700). So all in was roughly $2k.

I'd say I am getting just shy of 3" lift right now. I think I might add a small spacer to the front to level it out as my rear is sitting a little higher right now.

Deciding on tires was the most stressful thing ever! At first I was gonna do 265/75/16 BFG KO2. But I thought for the money I wouldn't really be changing that much. So I debated 285s for a while but I was against a cmc. One of my wheeling buddies suggested 255s and I did some research and decided that was the best way for me to go. Now, there are very limited tires available in 255 and 90% of them are MTs. I decided on the Toyo after some research, and I felt good about it cause I got a wicked deal. $1200 for 5 tires and alignment.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Haha. I don't know if it is. I've been using them for years but a lot of my friends haven't heard of that before.

Thanks for the info! Yea I was lookin at the toytec site n they don't even have a 2017 option yet :annoyed: I'm guessing the parts would be fairly similar for a 2017 though. Is this your daily driver? let me know if you see a big drop in mpg. Not that it should stop me since mine will sit for 2 weeks at a time!:(
