I have a 2003 reg cab 2.4L 2wd and I'm in the process of buying parts for my lift project. I can't find any forums that answer this question so I gotta post this.

I've heard such great things about the [ride height adjustable] Bilstein 5100s and I gotta know how I get these on my truck. I've seen pictures of this done on a 5 lugger before but on the ones with that set up it looks like the LCA is aftermarket as well (Downey I think), it doesn't have the coil bucket on this aftermarket LCA. but I think it'll fit on my current LCA; the bottom of the 5100 strut looks like it will mount in the same place that the stock shock is mounted, the coil bucket will just not serve any purpose since the spring will be on the shock itself. Am I right? this is just how I see it in my head.

I already am set on buying the 3.5" Doetsch spindles for the front and AAL's+shackles in the back. I also got a sick deal on a set of 4 33" BFGs for $150 (salvage yard)! I'm just ready to get my truck where I want it but if this suspension upgrade can also add lift I want to do that as well.

    So...

If anyone knows if the ride height adjustable Bilstein 5100s will fit on the front (I already know they'll work for the back..) of a 1st generation 5 lug base model please let me know!

Honestly I don't think they will fit the front, every website I've seen that sells them says that they're for the 4x4 and Prerunner models (6 lug) only. I've seen many threads on this forum from guys with 5 lug Tacomas wanting to lift them, and not once has anyone suggested 5100s for them...I don't think it will work :notsure:

I've seen it done on a few 2wds, I just need to know where I can find this aftermarket LCA
