No it's not really meant for that. That's where you mount the ball if you don't have a hitxh

Cut the strap and leave he hook for now. Drive home and find a sewer drain and use a ratchet strap hook it around the drain or a permanently fixed object and slowly crank.

That's a good point. I think it would work, but you might end up being Captain Hook.

Napoleon Dynamite: Dang! You got shocks, pegs... lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

Hope you get it out OP. Seeing this thread makes me realize that I should probably grab some recovery gear for this winter. A D-Ring would be a good idea.

Hey OP, yer lucky you didn't poke yer eye out with that hook bro... what were you thinking??

I'm surprised you didn't pull the whole bumper off that shit is all plastic.

    Solution:
You could get a shotgun and shoot the hook off.. problem solved.
    Then pate bumper.

Put it in reverse and ram rear bumper into something. Problem solved. You can buy an off-road bumper with actual shackle mounts.

    Lotta helpful advise here, eh?

I just looked at my OR bumper and I think it's different than yours. If you can remove the plastic on top of the bumper and get to the hole, I'd try drilling as far into the hook with a 1/4" bit (you'll have to mark it with a center punch) as you can. Once you've got a bunch of metal removed (below the line of the bumper), you should be able to smack it with a (big) flat end punch and have it fall out.

If that doesn't work, I'd buy a $29 saws-all from Harbor Freight and cut the bottom of it off.

Another vote for cut the strap and leave it in place as a light duty tow point.

So after a long time sitting under my bumper with a "BFH", contemplating why we tried to jump the manure pile with the polaris, I eventually hit it enough and hard enough to knock it loose! Im repainting the bare spots now...thanks for all the funny comments :bananadance:
