Hey guys, some of you may know that we have been working on a BSM compatible replacement rear bumper for the 3rd gen Tacoma. Well as of last night the first one has been completed, installed and final road testing has been done. The verdict is that we retained full function of the BSM system! For all of you looking for a replacement rear bumper that retains all your tech package goodies, this is it!

The BSM sensors are mounted behind plastic panels in the corners of the bumper which are paint matched to the vehicle. This is the ONLY way to retain function of the system. Any other material mounted in front of the sensor will block the sensor's sonar abilities and cause it to not function at all.

This product will be added to the website very soon!

-Bumper comes standard with hidden hitch.
-Can be ordered with or without BSM capabilities.
-Original license plate lights are removed and a sticky back LED strip attaches to the bottom of the tailgate to light the tag.
-Can be ordered with or without cutouts for flush mount Baja Designs reverse lights.
-Sloped license plate area allows for the highest clearance rear bumper on the market.
-We will also have all options available for the swing out tire gate that we offer with our current Hi-Clearance rear bumper.

We will only have an option for single swing arm. Due to the design of the bumper, there is no room for latches at the center of the bumper.

Would you guys be able to take your Overland Series High Clearance Rear Bumper and add the plastic cutouts? I really like how that one protects all the way to the wheel well.

Well that's just nice. I think I like this look better than the overland bumper replacement.

A day late and dollar short....just received my FabFour Premium bumper which was "suppose" to retain BSM and Sonar. No go...didn't realize the actual sensor computers were used for the sonar part. Now I'm dealing with BSM errors and Sonar errors.

This is probably a dumb question but are the BSM sensors used in the cross traffic alert sensors? Blind spot I don't care too much about. But with the back up camera and cross traffic sensors, I'm getting lazy. :)

    - Yes, they look like small ECU's and are beneath each corner cap on the 3rd Gen. They REQUIRE no metal around them or it will block the signal and cause all kinds of ECU errors in the cabin (which I'm now dealing with). The scary part of the stock setup is the BSM sensors are about $600 a piece and only protected by the plastic end piece. Also, the metal sub-frame of the stock rear bumper only weighs 6 lbs. (I weighed it).

C4 Fabrication, Great looking bumper! Can you answer a couple of questions; What is the weight of the bumper and what rating are you giving the receiver hitch?

    Thanks Glenn

Unfortunately due to the design of the Hi-Clearance bumper and how the outer corners of that bumper rise up at a steep angle, there is no way to fit the actual BSM sensor into the corner of the bumper.

    Thanks!

Thats what we like to hear!! BTW we are working on your Lo-Pro bumper right now and your sliders should be done next week!

Sorry to hear that, you could always send it back to them and get one from us that actually functions properly;)
From what i understand, BSM and Cross Traffic Alert are the same thing, so yes the same sensors are used.

This all sounds correct. We did extensive testing with multiple types of material in front of the BSM sensors and everything except plastic blocked the signal and caused the system to not function.

Bumper weighs about 95lbs. The hitch area is fully boxed with 1/4" plate and we feel that it would tow the factory rating just fine, but we have no way of "officially" testing that and cannot guarantee this for insurance purposes.

Thanks for the reply. I will be sending in a RFQ for front/rear bumpers, winch, sliders, and skid plates (possibly bed rack) for 2017 DCSB TRD OR.

So I'm new to this whole bad ass plate bumper deal. Could you please explain a bit about the hidden hitch? I'm assuming this completely replaces the factory hitch and then the loops on the bumper are to be used as recovery points?

Lastly what do you mean by a "sticky back LED strip" is used to light up the license plate? I just don't fully understand what a sticky back LED strip is :p thanks.

A sticky back LED strip is just that... I purchased one from "Anti-Dark" to stick up on the underside of my hood.... it's 4' long and only draws less than 1 Amp and throws tons of light from a series of little LED (Light Emitting Diodes). They are attached to a piece of plyable plastic that has 3M sticky shit on the back... you peel N stick it, plug it in and you got lots of light....
Here a link to Anti-Dark light for under the hood...
