This has happened several times over the last few months.

    2006 Sport, 4.0, 6 speed MT.

When I get to my destination and go to turn the truck off, it will not shut off. I can turn the key off and it continues to run. If I choke it out, the engine will stop, but the gauges do not turn off (as if it is in the ACC position).

It will take several attempts to get the truck to shut down completely.

A new bolt here, a new bolt there, a new bolt everywhere.
Do you have a portable charger pluged in to your 12V? I had a similar issue with a portable charger, that was back feeding the ECU and making the ECU think the truck was on so my ACC remained on. I have a push button start so it might be different in your case. It might be a bad cylinder in your case. Just sharing my experience.

Sounds like a bad ignition switch. I assume you mess around with the key and it finally shuts down?

Read a similar story a while back online and this was the guys remedy .. not saying it will fix yours but just putting it out there

Well, I finally figured it out. It was a bad rectifier in the alternator, probably caused by a loose battery cable. Apparently only one of the diodes in the trio was shorted out so it was still charging, just not as efficiently, I never got a charge light on the dash either. Not only did the short kill the battery overnite, in a running condition it was back feeding power to the ignition circuit causing the engine to continue running after the key was shut off. Crazy....
After a quick alternator rebuild the car is as good as new.

I did have a cell phone charger in for a little while. It quit working and I figured it just died.

Yes. Off, on, off, on, off. Takes a few tries to get it to finally go off.

    I may start here.

Didn't have time last night to fool with it. I think first thing I am going to check are the relays.

When I drove home yesterday it cut off like it should. When I drove to work this morning, I had to f@#k with it to get it shut down.
