Does anyone have a must see place in this country during the winter, if you do what would that place be and has anyone ever travel across the country during the winter?

    Thanks,
    Mark

OK, that's about what I'm looking to do, so 18 days would be a good trip.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Most of the roads are closed in winter so driving thru isn't an option but you could do a snowcoach tour (make sure to get one with tires not tracks) or snowmobile tour. Sleigh rides thru the elk refuge in Jackson is fun.
If you're a skier there are a bunch of ski resorts in MT

I forgot about that and it would factor in my options, so maybe do them in the warmer months in the future.

Yeah MT is more of a summer destination me thinks. Glacier, Teton, Yellowstone are more accessible in summer....more crowded too. More camping hiking exploring options then too.

Maybe just plan on seeing a few great places, that way you don't feel like you need to be on schedule.

I'm trying to avoid traffic jams, construction and tourists in general.

That would be an awesome trip and they are at the very top of my wish list. Would that trip be the one you mentioned that took 9 days?
