Are you looking for good lighting or just something cool looking? Neighbor has them, they look 'ok' not really my style. Lighting is not really any better than OEM. If you want lighting you need H4-4 HID kit. Direct plug and play fit, just have to run wiring for the 4 HID ballast. The closer to 5000K on bulb color temperature you get, the more light output you get and the closer you get to PURE WHITE LIGHT. I run 5000K H4-4 HID bulbs and 4 55watt ballast on headlights and they are amazing for lighting! (When i installed in 2010 it cost like $1000 for parts so most peeps shy'd away, now parts are less than $300! and easy install, WELL WORTH IT!!!)

I had hids before but they crapped out after 3 years, my headlights are also fogged beyond me wanting to repair (I've done it 4 times). So I was thinking of going these with led's or possibly a new hid kit

There's a thread somewhere on Tacomaworld where a guy with LED headlights really messed up his 2016 Taco. Something about when they get wet they cause havoc with the electrical systems.

    Totally unrelated to this thread.

That guy is using an aftermarket harness and bulb setup in stock housings, this thread is asking about aftermarket housings.

I'm really wondering if this would project hid's well

Just get a good H4-4 HID setup, you dont need to change housing if you just want better and clearer visabilty. If tha is what you are after.

well the reason I'm looking at replacing is because my housings are sun damaged beyond repair, also the passenger side is cracked from a fender bender i got into. thats why I'm looking at replacing them on top of getting new lights, whether they bey led or hid

Gotcha! Weird to hear you have had such on issue with sun damage though. That sucks man. If you live where its really hot, if you leave the truck/ headlights constantly dirty/dusty I have seen it have a bad effect of headlight housings and especially paint! Learned that personally on my old Bronco, id take it to the dunes or somewhere off-road and since it wasnt daily driver sometimes wait a while to clean it... not good

Flat out wrong. You cannot "just put HIDs in your factory housing" without causing scatter and glare everywhere, and blinding everyone else on the road. This is a well documented fact.

You get what you pay for. Cheap projectors are usually a downgrade from stock.

If you use a lens restore product, you also need to use a UV stabilizer immediately afterward. And I am not talking about the wipe that comes with the lens restoration product. Restoring the headlight lens removes the UV stabilizer causing rapid UV breakdown (hazing). You need to use a product like Mequiars headlight protectant after restoring your headlights, and this is a maintenance item that needs to be done regularly not a one time application.

just read your whole thread on how to go ultimates for the bulbs, really like that idea, just need to find new housings. if you could lead me to a good source for housings for an 07 tacoma with possibly that smoke finish you have, id be delighted

Part numbers for OEM with links to the best price I found documented in part 3) in the ultimate headlight upgrade thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-ultimate-headlight-upgrade-not-led-or-hid.398066/

If OEM is outside of budget, I would look for CAPA certified alternatives. Keep in mind you will be able to sell your existing assemblies, even in not perfect condition, as many people need temporary units for just a few days, while doing a DIY projector retrofit.

SAM_5501.jpg SAM_5512.jpg SAM_5529.jpg SAM_5540.jpg SAM_5543.jpg like crushnburn80 said, you just need OEM replacement (CAPA or OE) such as

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/TO2502157B-Factory-OEM-Remanufactured-Head-Lamp-Assembly-Driver-side-/131895819823?fits=Year:2007|Model:Tacoma&hash=item1eb59a7e2f:g:WBQAAOSwhOdXn0sP&vxp=mtr

If it were my money, I'd get a set of OE housings and go with HID's

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/111373913068?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&var=410356615177&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

    select 55watt, 5000K

total cost... about $300-$400 bux, add some 5000K HID fog lights for another $75 bux or so.

I did some testing for a couple of venders a year or so ago if your interested in how the color temperature scale works. 5000K color temp (doesnt matter if its and LED, HID, Fluorescent, etc. 5000K will produce the most VISIBLE light and look PURE white)

I do not know why this concept is so hard to stamp out. HIDs are not compatible with halogen reflectors. Period. Here is the same concept with LEDs, maybe I need to make one for HIDs too:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/why-leds-should-not-be-run-in-halogen-reflectors.454371/

This give an excellent example of the complete lack of beam pattern and control, and exactly why you should not run HIDs in your halogen reflectors. If this is not understood, read the thread I linked to above.
