I run the ST Maxxs too and they do have a little more "squishy" lateral movement than the 285/75 I ran before. I also have no sway bar. I believe it's because of the taller sidewall. I like the way the 255s feel. If I ever decide to change sizes it'll be to 35s.

I get 18 mpg on summer fuel and no instability whatsoever with this size. I love them, but find myself wanting to go bigger. In reality though, they do everything I want them to do and look great without being obnoxiously big.

I ended up ordering 255/75R17 KO2's in the C load since they weigh only 46lbs. This is my 3rd set of KO2's since release, no Bro here. I'll post pics on stock suspension since I haven't picked out a lift yet. I'm hoping it'll be a perfect medium without wanting to regear and still look good with a 2" lift.

might be a dumb question but this I have to ask... When you guys are talking mpg, is it with US gallon ( seems obvious!) wich is 3.78L, or is it with Imp. gallon, wich is 4.55L?

Been running 255/85/16's for the past 3 years. Truck was a total dog without a regear. I have wanted to go bigger but I seem to be able to go everywhere with the 255/85's and I can't justify going to a 17" wheel just so I can bump up to a 34" tire (285/75/17). I hate super wide 35's and my truck already gets 12 - 18 mpg with all the mods. I have found that Toyo open country MT's provide the best wear and durability. I ran a set of KM2's but I had a cupping issue after consistently rotating my tires.

That's a new one on me. Looks very ST Maxx-esque.

It's good to see this size is gaining enough traction (pun intended) to get some more options.

concentric - are you saying that your truck was a dog when you started running 255/85 with stock gearing? I'm thinking of going to a 255/85 and I don't want to regear.

Yea. I also have a v6 6-spd manual. Not sure how an Auto would do (if you do have an auto). For me, 4-hi was kinda useless offroad especially in sand washes. The truck is drive able but it is definitely more sluggish over stock and doesn't stop as quickly (larger mass to stop). I drove around with 255/85's and stock gearing (3.73's) for about a year before the re gear. If I were you, I would find someone who has 255/85's and stock gearing and go for a test drive to see if you can live with lack of power. For me, braking wasnt an issue since I down shift and coast.

So you're talking about mainly off-road dogging it? Noticeable on road too?

Mainly offroad but, noticeable on road as well. Do you have an aftermarket suspension that will allow you to fit the 255/85's?

My bad. I thought these were the same size as 255/75R17s but that would be the 255/80R16s...
