    THIS!!

It's rare to see cars from the 90's (from any brand) on the roads as daily drivers in my part of country due to harsh winters and road salt.

Cars indeed all have a shelf life... so as we are already approach 2017, cars from the early 2000's cease to exist it seems.

However, what matters is the 2-8 yr time span I would say (my opinion), from the purchase date.

I'm sure the ZR2 will get rants and raves by magazines, online venues, and qlty reporting companies... however they all use the asterisk (*) "initial quality and value". Meaning, this is a brand new vehicle, with minimal wear and tear... we don't know how it will age and diminish in performance, durability, reliability, and value.

For me the GMs look and feel cheaper in person. Look at the steering wheel buttons. They feel like those bullshit knock-off gameboy buttons--you know, the "gameboy" your grandma accidentally bought you because she thought it was the same as an actual gameboy. The Toyota's dash and buttons feel better.

The way GM designed their buttons there is no physical gap between the button & the adjacent part it's set into on the steering wheel. Eliminates the crap that will unavoidably get lodged in there & makes for a cleaner look with less maintenance.

But maybe that's just me, I never had a Gameboy, I went outside & played.......

Comparing an AMG or M Class to a TRD Pro is hardly fair.

I'm a big fan of the Pro (love the grille), but at the end of the day, the TRD Pro is a TRD Off Road with minor styling changes and bolt-on suspension components.

I'd say that guy doesn't even know the difference AMG or M makes to Benz or BMW, let alone Toyota's specialty products

Just saw 2 preproduction trucks driving through downtown Pittsburgh tonight... a white extended cab and a pewter crew cab.

No camouflage, just multiple antennas and manufacturer plates

    Looked great

I had presumed that my Taco replacement way down the line would be a Raptor, but this ZR2 is now the front runner..... in 10 years.

And, when I saw you could get a diesel in the ZR2 in an extended cab model with a 6' bed and they have come out with an 8 speed tranny I initially got pumped. Not so much because it needs 8 gears which actually could be a detriment in a pickup but just because surely they increased the power handling capacity problem of the 6 speed?

Nope, the diesel is still down on HP from what it could/should have [ought to be 200-210 easy from a 2.8] and it still gets stuck with that junk 6 speed that's only rated at 330lb.ft. when the stock diesel is putting out 369 . . . bummed! So, forget about any after market tuning which works SO nicely on turbo-diesels.

I'm guessing on this it would have to be the V6 gasser car engine with the 8 speed or forget it . . . Nice looking truck though.

I read somewhere that the diesel gets the 8-speed in 2018

Well, that would be certainly promising if that is true? Again, I am not sure if that many gears in a pickup is truly necessary either but just getting a transmission that is rated for the power of the engine would be a positive step. Of course, when I think about giving up my gen 1 PLUS probably more than $33K to own it . . . I will probably keep driving my Tacoma.

Certainly nice looking and equipped though. And I miss 4WD horribly. Since I only "need" it maybe a dozen times per year I thought WTF and grabbed this amazingly nice low mileage pee-runner but I would love to at least fix that problem with my next truck if I even get a next truck.
