Sidewall number has nothing to do with the amount you are supposed to run. That is the Maximum inflation which corresponds to the pressure you run if you are running the tire at max load.

    ^^^ What he said!!

I can see a pound or two, but the factory has that noted for a reason, so it's better to follow that. Granted, I'm not saying Ford was right w/ what they did in the 90s w/ Explorers, but the door jam (or manual) is what you should always use.

For what it's worth, my tires came back after my 5k mile service the same as the OP's did. Just bled a bit off and good to go. At this point, I don't trust my dealership at all, but that's just me.

I definitely make my own psi adjustments. Was just curious if there was something I didn't know about with the off road since the dealer had different specs.

I would hope everyone knows that max psi on the side of the tire is NOT what you are supposed to run them at.

Dealer always screws up the pressure, my tires say 80 psi but I run them at 34. Dealer sets them at 38.

Dodge or Toyota dealer does it so not just Toyota

I know there are a lot of threads out there about tire pressure. I just don't have the time to though them all. I was wondering what tire pressure I should be ridding on my 285/75/16 toyo open country r/t. Thanks for the help .

I'd start at about 40 psi and experiment. The chalk test is good. Draw lines across the tires with chalk and go for a short drive 1/4 mile is enough. If there is still chalk showing on the edges then you have too much air and only the center of the tire is in contact with the road. Let air out until you get even wear.

36 all around on mine. Feels good for my daily ride and gas mileage is good but definitely soften them up for off road

Mine came from the dealer with 34 psi cold. I had a screw in my left rear tire just over 700 miles. Had to replace the tire because it was on the very outside. Had the dealer put the tire on and when I got it back PSI was at 29. I’m so used to running 32 in every vehicle I had I thought they didn’t put enough in. Checked my door badge and it says 29 so I aired the rest down to 29 as well.

Mine came brand new from the dealer with 32 psi cold. I aired them up to 35 with daily commuting in mind.

Mine came from the dealer at 29 all around, and I've kept it that way. They do look like they're slightly bulging at the sidewalls though, compared to other cars in the lot.
