I second that. I have ran Blizzak's on every car I hve owned/driven - VW GTI, 2nd Gen Taco, Subaru WRX, Jeep Cherokee, to name a few. They are hands down the best. I did a winter driving school in Steamboat that Bridgestone puts on to show you how good the tires are and that sold me. If you ever get a chance give the course a try. I have always felt decent driving in the snow but this course helped instill those skills even more. Sorry I'm done ranting now lol

I can vouch for the performance of Blizzaks in the snow; we have a set of WS-80s on our VW TDI Golf Sportwagen that we've used driving up to Bend, OR a handful of times last winter. They performed extremely well. From what I can recall on our other current car - '10 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with all-seasons, the Golf wagon did better in the snow than the Impreza.

It is nice to get confirmation of this as a set of winters on the Taco which we are considering at this point (I had defaulted to Blizzaks given their reputation and the experience we had with them on the VW).

    ...too much shit to list.
My only gripe with the Blizzaks is they discontinued the 285/70/17. I'll likely try out either the Toyot Observe GSI-5 or the General Altimax Arctic next

Ran the altimax artics for a few years on my subie before I traded her in. Loved how they performed in tahoe when it was snowing. Had no complaints but I only had less than 10 days of experience with them on heavy snow conditions.

It's raining at lake level right now, snowing at 7,000ft, and sticking at about 7500-8000 ft. Just went over the pass a few mins ago.
Didn't go riding though, one lift open on a Saturday-fuck that.

Apparently kirkwood has been getting with some wet sticky stuff they said. I'm going to risk it and try it out tomorrow.

I was in South Lake over the weekend and it rained pretty hard all-day Saturday at lake level and over the pass. Heavenly got 1 ft up top, but i didn't bother riding Sunday since i knew it would be really wet & heavy. It's a good start for the base layer though! Just need a cold storm to hit and it should be really good.

So I went to Kirkwood yesterday.... Definitely not worth it. Apparently it snowed during the day, rained in the afternoon, and then froze over in the evening. Some of their chairs were frozen and were not able to be started up for a while. The conditions weren't exactly icy, but more of hard packed grainy like snow. I think it will be a good base, or at least I hope so. Once the sun hit the snow and it thawed up the conditions became better, but it was still pretty shitty.

Heavenly was good today, they got stagecoach open and a decent amount of acreage too. Plus a small park.

Lower part of the mountain had lots of 'death cookies' and crusty.
    Upper mountain was good.

So I am about to drive on the great I-80 towards Denver and while I know how to drive in snow, I figured it would be good to pick up some chains/cables just in case. Any recommendations for these trucks? I am just running the OEM tires on my 17 TRD OR.

I drove home through South Lake last night since 80 was closed. What a shit show. HWY 50 in California was pretty cleared but the Nevada side of it was miserable. Hopefully this snow will be decent for skiing.

Went up to Kirkwood this morning, damn I haven't had that good a day for a while. It looked like they got about 6 feet between yesterday and last night. Everything was untouched because they had to close yesterday. The drive out there was sketchy though, ice sheet from my driveway all the way to the mountain.
