Edit: Aldo became the champion again since he held the interm designation. The winner of Max and Anthony will fight Aldo for the unification.

 

The whole 145 division is a joke. Connor should have been required to defend the title at least once, but instead he was gifted a LW title shot without having to fight any top contenders. Not to mention, he lost to Nate Diaz the first go round and then went to a decision the 2nd. That kind of performance hardly warrants a title shot. Given that Conner will probably be out until Spring 2016, I would like to see a No. 1 contender match between Tony Furguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

I am actually looking forward to the TUF finale this weekend, though it doesn't matter which contestant wins the season as Mighty Mouse will wreck them all. The fight to watch is Benavidez vs Cejudo. I think Cejudo is overrated and will lose to Benavidez.

He was basically stripped. He never had plans to defend the FW title anyway. His goal was to win it and then go after LW. Also, he said he was going to take a break while is wife is pregnant. I think she is only about 4-5 months along so it will be at least another 6-8 months before he fights again.

Aldo beat Edgar for interim title so once Connor was stripped, Aldo was automatically gifted the title. The odd part is that Holloway and Pettis are fighting for the interim -- why not just call it a No. 1 contender? That is what is really is.

Exactly. To me the interim belt is for when the champ is out of competition temporarily because of a minor injury or something. Aldo is good to defend to my knowledge so just makes no sense. I think the ufc just wants to advertise it as a "title fight" so to get more paper views.

I would have like to see a McGregor and Aldo rematch though. Wonder if McGregor will want to prove a point when he is ready and come back down and win the title back? Or move up and fight Woodley?

 

I wonder if they made the Holloway vs Pettis fight an interim title fight because they had a strong feeling that DC would get hurt and have to pull out of UFC 206. It would be hard to keep a PPV card with a non-title fight.

It is funny how McGregor loses to Nate and then gets an instant rematch. But, when Aldo loses one fight after an impeccable winning streak, he doesn't get the same treatment. Like Cativelense, it's all about the money. With WME-IMG taking over the UFC, I fear that money will be the driving factor even more so in the future.

 

Fighters union just created. Very interesting to see the future of the UFC.

 

Aldo was never offered a rematch. Mac beat Mendes before he beat Aldo.

In all seriousness...how do you think Mac would REALLY do against Mayweather in a boxing match? I don't believe that it will be as one-sided as many people think it will. Mac can take a punch, Mayweather is NOT an overly aggressive fighter known for his KO power. I think that, when properly prepared for an opponent (which he wasn't for Diaz), Mac is really good. If he has some time to work solely on his boxing, I think it would be a much better fight than everyone thinks it will.

And...while it would never happen, I think that Mac's chances of beating Mayweather in a boxing match are FAR greater than Mayweather beating Mac in an MMA bout.

I agree with your last sentence -- Mayweather would get destroyed in a MMA match. However, I think Mayweather's footwork and cardio would give McGregor so much trouble in a boxing match. The reason Mayweather is undefeated is because he is one of the best at avoiding hits/damage. McGregor would have to get lucky and KO Mayweather. Otherwise, Mayweather would win 12 rounds to none.

I don't because I think that McGregor would most likely be a bit more aggressive than Mayweather is used to seeing and. I think that McGregor could win a few rounds at least.

Either way...I don't believe it will happen. We're more likely to see McGregor vs Mike Greenberg (The Green Mamba) than McGregor vs Mayweather. Hahaha...

No kidding! He is so tall that Demetrious isn't even able to knee him in the clinch and squirms out of all submission attempts.

 

Conor got stripped because DC got pulled. They had to sell the headliner as Pettis vs Holloway as a interm belt so they just took Conors belt, gave it to aldo whom he knocked out in 19 seconds, and made a bullshit fake belt up for no reason other than money.
He got the boxing licenses to either scare the UFC a bit into breaking him off a little something somethin, or to make that real fight money with Mayweather and hit the 100 mill mark. Probably both though. One thing is for sure, he definitely believes he can knock out Mayweather by concentrating solely on boxing in his training. Who wouldn't want to see that shit though?

 

The finale card was pretty good. Cejudo surprised me against JB. Was a good matchup for sure. I wish elliot could have pulled it off last night and finished with that d'arce he had, but Mighty mouse showed why he is champ and wrestle fucked him for sure.
