Winter's around the corner and I'm looking at getting some new tires. Leaning towards the Michelin Defender LTX, wanted to hear any opinions or recommendations on a good all-season tire that will handle in the snow.

Michelin At2's have been on my truck for the past year and I love them.

How's the road noise? Handling in the snow?

I commute 80 miles a day and they drive great on the highway. Not noisy at all. The wet traction, both water and snow is fantastic, best I have probably ever had. I will buy them again, and that says a lot because I always want to try something new and different. They are lasting a really long time too, I have about 50k on them now and I think I will easily get 70k.

We put BFG K02s and General AT2s on all the time both are great in the snow, I've been running BFG K0s for 60k and plow with them. They are great in the snow, wear like iron, and are not too loud on the highway even when worn.

I've used the Destination AT's in snow and they worked fine. They have really good ratings on tire rack. And they didn't chip or puncture all 80,000 miles I had them. Sold the truck with them still on and a bit more than 1/4" of tread left. I regularly use them in dirt and rocky areas.

I have not used Michelin before, but I have used a couple off brands and a set of goodyears. The goodyears were only good on the road. Crap once I hit dirt.

Your intended purchase is the best choice for your intended purpose. Short of an actual snow tire of course.

Thanks for all the input. Really like the look of the AT but ended up going with the Michelin Defender LTX M/S as I'm 95% pavement/gravel, pulled the trigger last Wednesday. $206/tire, tho Michelin is offering a $70 rebate.
