I was just talking to another guy about that this last weekend…and the main reason why I dont dive murky water…or water off of rivers. Even swimming in rivers and feeling sticks and stuff in the water gives me the chills. Too many people get bitten in murky water….I need to atleast see around me.

Stoked on diving too…didnt have fins so just stayed near shore. If we were staying another night the tako would be awesome for bait, but gonna try dehydrate it today.

What trips me out…and something I probably wont do…is deep sea dive at the buoys. Man, we will be handlining fish and dolphins and sharks will come right by and suck it right off the line. Theyll be a shark or two around and then couple yards from the buoy has 2 or 3 guys going in. The sharks really do come around when they palu/toss bait into the water…it attracts the fish, but it also attracts those sharks!

Im not sure if I wanna know what rape caves are….maybe I should carry a bang stick when I go diving too, to avoid that?

Believe or not…people do it just for fun…some even pay to do that!o_O

Ok that doesnt sound fun and im not sure if I wanna believe that….but I wouldnt wanna know either.

With all these missing people, who knows. Maybe that film was made and paid for by the sharks to distract the attention away from them? hahaha, there was a guy who testified about it being a wonderful sight swimming and watching the dolphins breed…and that others should experience it themself. This was at a meeting concerning the banning of commercial dolphin tours where they find dolphins and swim with them. Sometimes they need to chase the dolphins and corral them to keep them in an area. The commerical operators threw a hissy fit and want to ban fishing within the porpoise schools. This is actually going on and I want to slap the shit out of some of these commercial diving boat owners. Some of these companies do manta ray feeding and swimming tours too.
I dont actually know anyone who was attacked by a dolphin but occasionally one or two need to be taken out to control the population and to keep the fish on the hook while out at the buoys.

It was on a road from Uncle Roberts back to Hilo. We meant to take 130 but went the wrong way. Started back on the red road towards Kapoho and I think we turned up Opihakao Dr, which eventually got us to the 130. But it was an interesting drive - very rural with no lights, signs, etc... He just stood there as I stopped the car, hit the high beams and took a pic (from inside the car).

This must have been on the west side? I hear the east side is getting biblical rain - I'm seeing reports of 4-5 inches per day over the last several days. Good thing the ground is mostly porous lava rock, although there is still flooding...

I love Hank Shaw! Your gf is friends with him!? That's awesome! My supervisor lives by his recipes and I have tried many myself. His books and blog is great for preparing the meat once you got it but these go into more detail about what is needed to be able to get the meat.
