Did this a couple months ago, but figured I would share.

Nothing to special but super useful. Bed lights I got from Walmart, magnetic switch from O'riellys, and a toggle switch.

Lights were mounted under bed rails with the provided double sided tape, ran some additional wiring to the cab and used an add a fuse. Magnetic switch was mounted to the side of the bed and the tailgate, then I drilled a hole for the toggle switch to be used as an override just inside the brake light. I had to trim some of the toggle switch so the bed would close, but overall it works great and I love it!

I did this same mod. I also did diy instead of buying an overpriced bedlighting "kit".
Cost me $20-30 to do under hood lights..footwell, glovebox, center console, exterior front grill and the bed lights. plus I got left over for fixes.
Been almost 2 yrs no issues.
The one thing I'd add to this write up is..
I used small wire ties to help hold led strips on. (I had a few sag over winter) no sags since adding wire ties.

$25 for this set. Tractor supply. I'm pretty proud of my switch solution, since I'm a novice at this stuff . :)

What power source did you tap into for your switched power for these LED Lights ?

Good call. Did you add an in-line fuse as well ?
Any pics or steps you recommend for the 'add a fuse' to the panel ?
I'm into the same install my '07 Taco. Appreciate the posts

I agree, I have done a couple other light mods and love them all, especially not buying specific kits and being able to get things much cheaper. I havent had the bed lights on through the winter and they've held up good so far, they came with screws for permanent mounting too, we will see if I have to use them in a couple of weeks!

Here are my footwells, I used an add a fuse to the headlights (Brake light fuse) so they come on whenever I turn my head lights on.

I was in the same boat as you, I wouldn't call myself a professional but just a little time and we can figure it out! Looks good!

I tapped into the power outlet fuse, I did not want to go straight to the battery but it works the same way since there is always power to the outlet.

If you connect straight to battery, on the positive feed, good idea to add an in-line-fuse 10-15amp.

I am still awaiting my light kit to arrive. I will post some pics of the install.

2-60" LED strips will be mounted on both L&R undersides of the cargo box rail.
