That's crazy. So far I can barely see any visible wear at 15k.

Switched from my Cooper AT3's (really liked and recommend this tire) with 20,000 miles and minimal wear to Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx in LT265/75-16...main reason for the change was the ArmorTek3 three ply sidewalls...firstly, let me add that they DO NOT pull to the right on my stock suspension and that they are quiet...almost as quiet as the AT3's...and they look super awesome...performance wise I take Pat Callahan's word for their off road worthiness and ruggedness...Bought them at Discount tire in Redmond...trade allowance for the AT3s, $75 rebate for Black Friday, transferred my old "certificates" at no cost, so Out the Door was $713.02 for 4 tires...

Just thinking...so a bad batch of rubber affects only two tires out of the millions of tires Cooper produces per year...then the two tires go to their mixed inventory waiting for shipping...then they are shipped to regional distribution houses and pulled as needed by all shops in the state...then to local...then to Discount Tires inventory...then out of the 4 that were randomly mounted the two bad ones end up paired on the rear...and then the "bad" ones wear evenly...and Discount Tires does nothing...just sayin' the chance of this sequence is IMO billions to one...including the fact that the stock 17 inch Tahoe tire is a 265 section and these were oversized 295s...photos please before some people don't buy Maxx's because of this post...

Just got my st maxx mounted yesterday. I haven't had the chance to drive anywhere scenic to take any pictures but so far I am really liking how smoothly and quietly they ride.

May get snow tonight....that means i may get to see how well these tires work after all.

Played in the mud with them last week; and everyone knows how much i HATE mud. They did way better than any of my previous tires....they also flung mud for like 3 miles after i was back on pavement....

Forgive me if this has been discussed.

I was wondering if you lose any mpgs with these tires over let's say stock rugged fails?

And I'm referring to stock sizes being compared as well

What are your front suspension specs and do you happen to know how much caster you're running?

They are considerably heavier. So offroad and in the city yes. On the highway...not as much but still some loss

With the 265 70 16 Rugged Trails I averaged 17.5 city, I now average about 16 city with the 255's. (That's correcting for the odometer difference). Not a big deal to me..

That's not too bad then. I average the same as you did with rugged trails. I'm coming on 30k on my stock tires so I'm shopping around.
I really like the look of the st maxx but I don't off road so I'm also considering the discoverer at3.

    Thanks for the input!

I had Cooper AT3 in stock 265/70-16 and switched recently to Cooper S/T Maxx's in 265/75-16. For the AT3's my mpg averaged 20.62 mpg and for the Maxx's it dropped to 19.14 mpg (corrected for larger rolling radius) for a net loss of 1.48 mpg. Loads were about the same as well as around 32 psi in both cases.

Saint Maxx's were good in the light snow and icy roads today...
