As have many here...I've been annoyed by the intermittent kazoo noise coming from both driver and passenger window/door areas when highway driving through gusty areas. My daily commute on Highway 680 aka Luther Gibson Freeway here in Nor Cal provides me with a consistent wind source to help locate the noise....here are a couple of pics I took yesterday...all taken driving northbound along 680 (3 passes same exact stretch). Wind is coming from the drivers side...Kazoo on passengers side.

1st pass: both the door and window seal areas taped...no Kazoo20160404_174902.jpg

2nd pass: window seal area taped...yes Kazoo

    20160404_175039.jpg

    3rd pass: door taped....no kazoo
    20160404_180156.jpg

Looks like reinforcing the door to body weatherseal might be a good first step...

Read a thread by another member where soft silicone tubing was fished through the existing weatherstripping. Think I'll go that route. Still look stock..

On my 2010 there was a TSB for it. I took it in, they did something to the windshield seal. No kazoo since then.

Is your truck still on warranty? Drive the truck (preferably with a passenger), and video while you are driving and the kazoo sound. That's what I did, took it to the dealership and they didn't have to "recreate the sound" on their own test drive, with my video evidence.

You should not have to do all this work when it's Toyota's fault for not fixing this after 10 #%@%^ years. There are even some people in the 3rd gen forums complaining about this.

I'm assuming your sound is like this?

My old 2008 did not make that noise but my 2015 does, they must have made a change for the worse somewhere along the way.

My 2015 does this also. Not as bad as in that video though, but still annoying. Always a good conversation starter when driving with new passengers.

My 2013 makes the kazoo noise. Both driver and passenger side. Mine is definitely the door seals. When the noise is on the drivers side I can make the noise stop by pressing out on the door at the upper part of the door.

As suggested, I did video while underway......and at my 15K service last week shared with the service dept. They indicated they will need the vehicle for some unspecified amount of time to re-create the noise. Simply thought I would help out. There was talk of re-seating the winsdshield......though not sure if it's necessary.

Yup, my 3 pieces of 1/4in drip line in the top / front door to cab seal has solved my kazoo sound for some time now.

I've got a 2016 Tacoma dual cab and was traveling about 70 mph when I first heard the kazoo sound. Just about jumped outa my seat. It was only for a few seconds as a gust of wind hit the truck from the side or front. Happened several times during that drive on that windy day. It seemed to be coming from the front of the vehicle but I couldn't tell for sure. It's only happened a couple times since, again on the highway and when it was windy. Took it in for it's 5,000 maintenance and reported the problem. I am waiting for an answer.

I've been doing this for awhile. It's hit and miss if it will fix your issue. Worked ok for me for 2 summers, but now the issue is back.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Try the dollar bill test; close the door on a bill and slide it around the door; there should be quite a bit of resistance if not there may be one of the problems

For what it's worth, I fought this issue on my 2005...since I bought it off the lot. I'm on my third windshield, and let me say that for me it was definitely not the windshield.

After miles of taping, troubleshooting and cross referencing other TW stories, I managed to fix my Driver/Passenger kazoo by adding the weatherstripping between the existing stripping on the door seals, where the current strip on the door makes contact with the body.

I've seen a bunch of folks go straight to blaming the windshield...turns out my issue was fixed with $5 from Home Depot vs a brand new windshield.

    Just my $.02.

I don't think my fix is exactly the same as the one described in Red's post but this has worked and though I'd share photos of it for you...

For reference, the driver's door is open and I'm standing between the door and the cab. The cab is behind me, the front of the vehicle is to the right and the rear of the vehicle is to the left.

The tubing is 7/16 OD found in the plumbing section of any hardware store. I pulled back the factory weatherstripping on the door and shoved the tubing in there without securing it in any way. It stays seated well between the factory weatherstripping and the metal of the door. I ran it the full length of the top of the door - from the top, left corner of the door all the way down to about the location of the outside rearview mirror.

Hope that helps and good luck!

I stuffed a thin piece of foam (about 2' long) between the seal and door frame as pictured above by buzzkill911 and the noise went away, finally.
