All our wheeling starts with a 3-7hr drive since i live in a low flat swamp POS area of the country. So my first priority is can I drive it that far.

One day maybe I'll break down and buy a truck/trailer combo, but I have always hated trailer queens. It's convenient but just not my thing.

Access cab 2nd Gen is just my size

So according to your theory, I am good then lol. I certainly do not have 30K in parts. Heck, I do not even have $20K with everything (both parts & labor). So I should fall under the bad ass catergory :D Actually, compared to many over the top rigs you see on the south west, mine is actually one of the humblest to be honest.

It is awesome to get a lot accomplished with a few resources. And at the end of the day, a talented driver can do more on trails with less gear. But I hope you are aware that the example you quoted of that 2,000 rig is not the norm.

Reality is, most people end up spending a shit ton of money even if they don't have a bling-bling over the top rig. The issue is that people are never honest about it. Guys lie all the time about how long it took and how much money they actually spent doing it.

But I guarantee that that most people end up spending at least 3 times the amount they originally budgeted, even on simple rigs with leaf springs which are supposed to be "cheaper", simply because of poor planning and execution, having to redo stuff several times, etc.

So just because a rig looks simple does not mean it was cheap to build LOL

The front is not done. I have to cut it all off and start over if I want to get a grill in there
    Maybe someday

That was a really good deal. I missed the boat on that one; not that I really needed tires at the time but still...

Hard to pass up for sure. I wasn't planning on getting them until next year but had to pull the trigger when I saw 50% off.

Watching the exact same build snap a front axle shaft and shit out a rear diff day 2 in to a wheeling trip trying to keep up with more built rigs is not bad ass so i maintain cheap ain't bad ass.

I was planning on ProComp 40s till I saw that. I couldn't pass up the 41.5 Rocker radials for under $400 a piece

That's the side of the story people don't like to tell...along with the side of the story about how much money they actually spent :D

The Procomps are also under $400 a piece :D (or at least used to)

The rockers are more aggressive, but the Procomps are said to last longer on the pavement.

Either way, it was a hell of sale on those pitbull tires

Apparently my 3RZ's last hurrah was to break a 30 spline long out at Flat Nasty. First time the short bus has ever broken on me. Not complaining for 10 year old original Longs. TG wouldn't warranty them because I was not the original owner. I don't think they could even get me new ones because mine are custom length on both sides. Ordered new RCV's that come with a no questions asked warranty.

So I am planning my swap and am trying to find a better solution to front brakes trying to keep 6lug stuff.
Besides trying to make brackets to use factory Tacoma stuff on fabricated spider knuckles with their 450 unit bearings, or using their expensive ass carbon brembo stuff on a daily driver, has anyone found a good solution for cheap brake stuff that will hold up to 37-40s (So no Dana 44 stuff)
I also have Silverado 6lub brake stuff sitting around that I could attempt to make work.

I know the easiest way would be to do factory 60 stuff and just go 8 lug but then that means I gotta do something with the rear before I wanted to and sell my 6 lug beadlocks shortly after buying them...
