As far as your factory remote will reach. Mine seems to be pretty far, but I never measured it.

The range of your OEM remote because that's what it uses.

I've never really tested mine to see how far it goes.

    I'm actually pretty interested.

    Could this harm our warranty?

So I pre-start my truck, but when I open the door it shuts off and I have to restart it? Or it only shuts off if it does not detect the OEM remote?

As soon as you open your door, it will shut off (but it will be toasty warm). Then just press the start button and do a smokey burnout in your neighbors driveway.

Your starter can handle more cycles of use than you can ever throw at it. No need to worry.

I would be interested if it stayed on when the door opened, with the keyfob present. Granted it's simple to restart, it's just a luxury and should be just that. If you make it I'll take it!

Not only is this kit a DIY and extremely easy to install, but you can also add a Smart Start which is a device lets you lock, Un-Lock and start your vehicle from anywhere in the world. Now this does have a service plan and device. I have linked them below

    Service Info: http://mysmartstart.com/

    Device Needed:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZJBE7OK/ref=twister_B014KS96MA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

You can also add actual remotes including 2-way remotes! A 2- way remote means it send you a chime back to your remote letting you know it sucessfuly started. Remotes work from 1/2 to 1 mile away!

    Device Needed:
    https://www.amazon.com/XPRESSKITS-X...&ie=UTF8&qid=1481249973&sr=1-2&keywords=xl202

This can then be paired with any viper, clifford or avital remote.

anyway we can see install directions? I want to see how much is involved. Sounds awesome but worried about hacking into trucks wiring. I am mechanically inclined but screwing with new vehicles electronics kinda sucks
