I have the Sawtooth and really like it. I don't know much about the Teton, but will check it out.

Those are both very good entry level set ups. The Sawtooth is going to give you more flex than the Teton. The Teton is list as a 6:4 and the Sawtooth a 5:5.

I have the Sawtooth and a stiff MaxCatch rod that is listed as a 7:3. It is quite a bit stiff than the Sawtooth and always love coming back to it from the stiffer 7:3.

I found this review from TenkaraTalk:
"If the Sawtooth were more of a softer 5:5, then I think there would be enough difference to easily distinguish these two rods. But to me, the actions are so similar that I think a beginner probably wouldn’t notice much of a difference. An experienced angler would, but it would be a nuance. I’d like to see Tenkara Rod company soften up the action of the Sawtooth to more clearly offer two distinct actions. The Teton is good as it is and I think they’d only have to tweak the Sawtooth a little to make it a different rod. Neither rod is bad mind you, they’re just too similar in my opinion making it difficult to choose between them (though if I had to choose, I’d go for the Sawtooth for it’s slightly slower action and nice aesthetics)."

Spent part of the holiday fly fishing with old friends. Haven't been on the water much and man did it spark my interest again. Quite a few of my buds are flying to mexico in winter to fly fish for a month. I helped them tie a few streamers...wish I had the funds/time to make it there.

Are any aware that the Orvis warranty is now $65 to get a rod repaired? Used to $25. Not sure if I'm happy about that.

For you guys in the DC area. I tried to buy this before leaving back for SC but he was out of the area while I was in the area so timing was off. I don't think he really knows what he has and would be willing to deal.

I'd rather see a picture of the spool of the reel to inspect the gearing, that's the part that counts

Deer season's over so now I'll have time to fish (if I get the honey-do list done anyhow)

In the meantime everyone should post a pic of their favorite long rod fish from 2016. Here's mine:

I'll add two as both are just as enjoyable/memorable given the context.

    Big River - 5wt - stripping a wet fly
    [IMG]
3 wt - tiny mountain stream - muddler

    Nice!

I've spent the last month doing other stuff - mostly deer and bear hunting. Last day of rifle deer season ends this Saturday. My old lady still needs to get a deer so I'll be out walking all day Saturday. My Sunday is all booked up too. I shot a deer last Saturday and plan on butchering it next Sunday. I'm hoping the weekend after I can get out on the water, it's been way too long.

I'll have to dig though pics when I get home but I have 2 fish in mind as favorites. 1 is my first wild 'bow and the other is 12+" native brook trout. Both were goals for this year, both are uncommon here in western Pa.

First time out this past weekend since deer season started. Stuck a few decent wild browns. Ignore the mugshot haha.

    Cool.

It's wild. It's probably more than just than just my fish of the year. Probably a fish of a lifetime. Some people catch of a lifetime is a giant musky. Mines a 5" trout. Lol

My first fish on a fly rod (3 wt.) was a hair smaller than that. That got me hooked for life. Great way to spend the day.

No doubt that's a fish of a lifetime. I have one stream where brookies and browns are intermixed consistently so hopefully I'll get my chance one day.
