So I blew out one of my tail lights in a little mishap with a mail box a couple weeks ago. :anonymous:

I am taking this as an opportunity to get me a cooler set of tail lights than the stock ones. I am very interested in these:

They are LEDs. I'm still not done researching them (and if anyone has them and has any comments let me know) yet but I do like em. I plan on sealing them with some silicone to be safe. They are plug and play install but my question is, what happens if a bulb burns out? am I going to have to rip the whole thing apart? The website doesn't say but it looks like I'll have to remove the light and take the back out.
I have no experience with LED lights as I've always run stock (and I don't have a truck fancy enough to have stock LEDs lol).

For those of you that have LED's, do the bulbs last pretty much forever?

    THANKS!

I had those tails but in the red version. You cannot replace any LED bulb on it without ripping the whole housing apart. Also, they are not as bright as stock.

LED'S are not bulbs. The truck should rot away before they burn out. The only after market set I would consider is Depo.

I got a set of Spyder taillights, and a bunch of LEDs have already burnt out. They use cheap LEDs and overdrive them, so longevity is questionable. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can change out the LEDs and resistors.

Yep, cheap LEDs don't last any longer than regular incandescent bulbs. A good quality emmiter will last 50,000 hrs or so, depending on how hard it's driven.

Even then.. Depo is the best aftermarket but still hit and miss with quality.

If it were me I'd get OEM tails from someone on here who replaced them with something else. Usually found for $100. @PackCon
