Did mine Saturday.... the tape trick worked for me on the map lights... just start with the tape trick before trying to use your fingers, lest you get the bulbs oily. If you do, a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the bulbs should do the trick... just go easy on it, so you don't drip isopropyl alcohol on any of the plastics.

The rear one however, well, I guess I should have read the thread more. I could not get it to fit, because I ordered the 31mm. I see some have had luck by compressing the drivers side spring and that buys a few mm, so I will try that tomorrow. If that fails, I just might solder a bloody wire in there, LOL. Wish me luck.

Has anyone tried the OP's part # for a 17 DC yet? I'm assuming they would be the same jus trying to make sure. I read through most of the thread and didn't see anyone mention 17's

I am going to go back to halogen as well. I have some friends with 3rd gen Tacos and we all did the LED Lights from Sylvania. Lifetime Zevo LED. Anyway, mine are still fine but one of my friends worked fine and then one day they wouldn't shut off when closing the doors. Long story short, BCM (Body Control Module) failed due to the LEDs according to the dealer. Not sure how but I've seen other threads with the same thing. He is battling them to change under warranty since the LED are not what is called for in the manual. Anyway, I ordered the SilverStar white Halogen bulbs and will take pics of how they look.

Similar to what I ended up doing, as the 31mm festoon bulbs didn't fit. I used a single array rather than the double you have here.

Since I still have 4 nice festoon bulbs, I am going to solder wires to them and re-purpose them as floor lighting. Wish me luck!

Mine's a '17, but it's an AC, and a Canadian one at that.

I did the front map lights as the OP suggested JDM ASTAR 800s, which worked fine.

The rear dome, as many have already reported seems to be a 28mm festoon but the OP part was a 31mm. There's some tips on how to get it to fit, but I was not comfortable with doing that so I ended up using a 48 LED array like the post above... it comes with a number of connectors you attach to the array, one of which was a spring-loaded festoon fitting which went from about 15mm to nearly 40mm, so it fit fine. I bought it locally at an RV parts place. Only complaint is it's warm white and the JDMs are cool white.

As mentioned, this has left me with 4 spare festoon bulbs... I was lamenting the lack of floor, i.e., "courtesy" lights in the Tacoma, so I am going to work on making these bulbs do that duty... probably driven by a relay off the map light switch with an override switch.

They pop off at the map lens pivot point using a small flat screwdriver.

One thing I don't remember reading is, I left my dome light on over night a while back, didn't drain the battery like the reg bulb would have.

Wish I'd written down the part numbers the OP gave. I ordered form superbrightleds, just grabbing their "recommended for our vehicle" bulbs. Dome light was a major hassle installing... blew the fuse as soon as I tested it. I wish changing the least accessible fuse block, ever was the end of the story, but what I have now are interior lights that no longer go off when in the "door" position; even with the factory bulbs back in. Then I found the thread I wished I'd seen earlier, where folks are having to replace the overhead console to correct it. At $600+, it looks like I'll live without that feature, or cobble my own system. Live and learn...

I think the biggest problem people have with this mod is that when they go to pop out the oem bulbs is that you are shorting out the circuit using a metal tool to pop out the oem bulbs. touching the reflector and prying with a metal tool into the socket is creating a short which is blowing the CB or worse the control module for the lights.

but that's just my thoughts. also I used vleds which at the time where dual polarity 194 bulbs, the 3175 29mm festoon and the standard vanity bulbs from vleds.

edit : and I've done this to a 2014 4Runner LE, 2016 Tacoma Sport DC and a 2016 Highlander XLE (that bitch has way to many dam lights in it)

and I never shorted anything across 3 vehicles.

I install the interior led bulbs and now the vanity mirror is too bright. Anybody have knowledge of another bulb brighter then oem but not blinding like the led's?

I would like to do this mod, but seeing post where people have had electronical problems after worries me. How common are these issues? I figure, so long as I don't use a metal tool to pry out the old bulbs, I shouldn't have any issues, right?
