I'd be interested to see what people have done on their own. I'm sure others would appreciate the lessons learned. So let's see what you built yourself! :headbang:

So my first project anything like this was the front bumper a few weeks ago. Yesterday I finally got motivated enough to try a rear bumper. Overall, I'm pretty happy with them. If nothing else I can say I built them myself.

Those are amazing! How thick are the plates?

I used 3/16" with 1/4" supports in places. Let me know if you want more photos or measurements.

The only thing I have made for the taco so far is a roof rack for my Leer cap. I am considering doing my own bumper. I have gotten, fairly good at welding over the last two years. Now that I have much stronger welder that can handle 1/4 plate, I am seriously looking at it.

It was honestly easier than I expected. Couple cardboard boxes, a roll of tape, and some spray paint (the metal is optional). The only thing I would say is to get a winch mounting plate that is pre-made instead of trying to make your own.

Looks good. May want more of a gap on top to account for body flex tho..

Absolutely, I forgot to mention they do thunk a bit. When I built them I made room for adjustments on the mounting holes just have been too lazy to deal with it. I should be able to open the gaps up to around 3/8".

I know its not a Tacoma but its what got me the down-payment for the truck and how I learned to weld (and grind)
I do have some projects in the pipeline for the truck when i get some free time available, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I wanted to do fog lights like that, but the pipe angles and mounting points scared me away from it.

How long did it take to work out the fog light tube angles?
