Yes it does look, it doesn't bother me but I could see how it could bother one...I also have a curved arm extension that can with the kit I bought haven't tried it out yet.

the mobius and joovuux are both great cameras that can use gopro mounts. the mobius is under $100 but has mediocre night quality, the joovuu x is $200 but supports higher resolutions and HDR for better night quality.

both will auto start and stop recording with the ignition and record 1-3 min clips that loop so you never have to go into your memory card to make space like a gopro.

I'm going with the Mobius with capacitor instead of battery due to Texas heat. Mobius can double as a wearable just like a GoPro.

Does your Andoer camera turn on and off with the ignition? Does it loop when the card is full?

    Thanks,

...^^^... Ditto ..... But I don't leave my camera in all the time. Afraid some crackhead down town or at the mall will break glass to get it.

I used the GoPro dashcam controller from CamDo. It auto turns on and off with the ignition which is what you want and keeps the battery charged. You just have to set the right loop settings on the camera to overwrite the footage.

I agree. I was stopped in Texas a couple years ago and the police officer made me remove my GPS stuck to the windshield. He said you aren't allowed to have anything attached to the windshield blocking the view. Mine was pretty out of view, but that's what he said. I don't think cops are looking to pull people over with GO PRO's attached to their windshield. If you are carrying any contraband, you might not want it on the windshield.

I use a Mobius on mine.

    Discussed in this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dash-camera-choices.415173/page-7#post-13875733

I decided to reuse my Mobius from my subaru:
    [IMG]https://www.amazon.com/Mobius-Action-Camera-1080P-Sports/dp/B00DP1WYD2

It attaches to the gopro mount with:
    clip - [IMG]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZMIJBU
    custom thumb screw - [IMG]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IE3JDSU
    3D printed adapter - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:538670

I bought an 12v to 5v converter from Amazon that I pulled the ceiling panel out and velcroed/double sided tape to the ceiling of the truck:
    [IMG]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O6R9PCC

I ran a dedicated power line through the headliner (fish tape) then inside the pillar panel (easy remove with two bolts, zip tied to existing wiring out of the way) then fish taped down to the kick plate. From here it runs through a grommet in the firewall to the engine compartment an is then wired to a relayed fuse in my custom fuse box. It has 5v3A of power when the truck is on.

I could totally take pictures one of these days, but I'm not opening up the panels again.

See this video and mount any camera to the go pro mount:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dLbyeycUok

I am interested in finding a small HD camera or dash cam to mount to the go pro mount. Has anyone found a good one? I don't want to mount my go pro and leave it in the truck.

Yes it does. Easily mounts in Go Pro mount. I use it everyday and even found a way to make the battery last longer by using a solar windshield mounted charger instead of direct wiring.

    How is it at night?

Interesting interesting... Does it not stay charged off the mirror harness power tapp alone?

I only use the solar charger. Haven't tried on a long trip yet. Only used once at night. While not has good as bright daylight seems to work just fine within the lighted areas.
Of curse solar charging would be useless at night. Loops on its own battery power for about 4 hours.

I'm pretty sure the mount is ABOVE the ASI line so therefore legal.

Not sure what your wanting to spend or how crafty you are but my uncle does hotshot hauling and uses a Garmin dash cam. The images are great and you can go back and save the clip or say "Garmin save video" or something like that and it saves it into a file. Here is a link to something crazy he caught on camera the other day!

There are cheap GoPro clones for less than $50 that work great! Got one for our cruise in the Caribbean and took better videos than the GoPro my friend had. And they have a built-in dashcam setting.

@ nilepoc. I know this feed is old but I am researching the same thing. My hubby got a new 2108 Tacoma with a go pro mount. He does not want a go pro but a real dash cam. For Christmas I bought him the exact dash cam u have listed. The rexing v1 but am trying to find an adapter or something so he can use the fo pro mount. Are u saying u don't need one? The feed got off the topic and couldn't understand what u were saying about the mount/dash cam.
