http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Gillett...063500?hash=item2a761a548c:g:2KsAAOSwImRYUKaEI picked up this safety razor after having sticker shock over the price of most disposable types like MACH3 (favorite) and others, and come to find out that these work very well and are really less costly then using the high priced multi-blade ones they lock up in a vault at the Store. I have never used a Safety razor before but investigated them on YOUTUBE and decided to give it a try for $19.99 with 100 free Gillette replacement blades. It arrived very quickly and used it today I didn't use any of the Foo Foo Soaps, beard oils,Soap brushes just used Gillette Fusion Pro Glide Gel which I had on hand, in fact any type of bottled Cream/Gel would work no need for all the fancy accessories if you ask me,but if you are into those go for it. A couple things Ive learned since using it once is not to apply any pressure like u would using a MACH3 or other just let the weight of the razor glide on your skin, do not press down or u will get razor burn. Also make one pass with the cream, you really don't want to make multiple passes without having more cream but u can but be very carefull this could irritate the skin. By doing the 1 pass shave is definetly good enough with these razors. The thing is pretty cool and Im glad I tried it, you can easily use this on a daily basis but you cannot rush it like a disposable razor, also you cannot cut off your ears or nose but you can get razor burned if you don't take it a little slower than normal. If your tired of breaking the bank for a shave I would say try it,there are plenty of How-To Videos on YOUTUBE, as I said before you wont need all the Foo Foo accessories at all.

    You can take multiple passes.

I've been shaving with a double edged safety razor for years. I don't use "foo foo" soap, but I use a shaving brush and bowl with a quality shave soap - not the chemical laden gels and foams from a can. They give a better shave and are way cheaper than the usual suspects, just like the razors and blades are.

I've never used those blades you have, but if you want to try some good shit.. get some Astras. You can buy a pack online for cheap, a sample pack cheaper still. Like a few bucks.

im with ya brother, yes you can take multiple strokes, but having used it only once myself wasn't sure about multiple strokes without cream if you have sensitive skin, I like it!

using this shaving cream/lotion makes using a DE razor much easier and less irritating to the skin, someone recommended using this brand Cremo and its definetly good with a DE razor you can get it at Walmart very reasonable cost.

Used to use them and would get nicks and cuts all the time. Wonder what has changed since then? Maybe a better shaving cream?

Heck yeah dude! I bought one of these about 13 years ago in an antique shop. It feels great in the hand, and the mass really does the job. You're right, no pressing down on the skin. When I use it, I am prone to nicks and cuts (par for the course with old-school shaving tech). It is wise to keep a styptic pencil in your shaving kit. I hated shaving with gel & modern razors. My future father in law turned me onto mug shaving. I haven't looked back since he gave me my first mug soap disc. My grandfather gave me his shaving mug that belonged to my great-grandfather. Shaving is definitely an experience rather than a chore these days.

It'll shave you closer than a cooter.

Astras have never been really memorable for me. The three top blades in my book:

I've used the Feathers before and loved them also. Astra is my girl, though, I'd cream Feather any day!

    So to speak.

i got 2 nicks using a new blade and this Cremo shave cream and I was super carefull they must not have been too bad cause as soon as I rinsed they were healed and not bleeding like a stuck pig. I am going to use new blade everytime since I got 110 blades with this. yes using this recommended shave cream was better than an aersol type most definetly IMO.

Sharp blades make clean cuts that heal quick and don't bleed long.

yes its pretty cool, shaving with the modern razor get costly and mundane(old) fast. but with these DE kits you don't want to rush like you would the disposable route,i only used mine twice first time got serious razor burn second time better you learn good techniques as u go.

Back when I used to shave daily, I'd gotten into the safety razor thing. It's the way to go. Still use it when I need to clean up around the edges of the beard to look good.

jup and they give close shave, I can go 2 days without a shave, instead of 1 day since using these, I work in construction so having a 5 o clock shadow or beard nobody cares, I clean up at the weeks end mostly during winter time I usually let the beard grow.
