Hi are all prerunners 4x2? I am looking at one saw it the other day and I guess it just looked like it was a 4x4 but I didn't really look. I am going back to check it out on Saturday but I was just wondering if it will be a waste if it can't be a 4x4. Thanks

    Yep, all PreRunners are 4x2.

    A PreRunner is a 4x2 with 4x4 suspension.

From what I am told, they were the trucks the drivers used to gauge the Baja courses before the actual race (hence - "Pre"Runner).

It all depends on what you need a truck for. If you are going to be doing alot of hard core off-roading then go with a 4x4. If not save some money and get yourself a nice Pre-Runner.

I am not really going to do much hardcore off roading but I am going to use it for a light duty ranch pick up so 4x4 is reallly a must. I came across one with 90000 miles on it, it is a 2001 for 9,900 dollars so I thought hey might be a good deal.
    Well thanks for the help

The 95-04 Tacos are bullit proof. I put 186,000 miles on my 98 Taco before I foolishly traded it in. Lot's of luck man.
