Good tires and proper braking technique have meant I've only hit ABS once this winter. Last winter with the stock Dungflops it was a different story. Brake early, brake often. Threshold braking works, but the threshold is a lot lower in adverse conditions obviously. I also wonder if the TRD OR trucks are a little more sensitive.

IMO, ABS works OK, just much too hypersensitive to being activated................

In other words, it doesn't work. I agree its too sensitive, and because of that it doesn't really try to stop you, its always letting you coast a little rather than trying to brake a little.

It is too sensitive for my preference. Good winter tires have helped to mitigate the issue, but I do not like the ABS on my 08

My abs rarely kicks on for myself. I run 4 aggressive snow tires on my truck. It will kick on if I slam on the brakes, but for the vast majority of the time it will rarely kick on, unless its sheer ice then in that case unless you have studded tires then your up the creek without a paddle.

We have had about 5-10 in of snow everyday this week with some days of 1ft of snow. Abs hasnt kicked on once.

All season/terrain tires start losing their grip around 7c regardless of tread design. By the time you get below zero you might as well have hockey pucks for wheels. Even in -30 my snows tires are still soft and pliable.

I didn't think mine worked because they never lit up. So, yesterday with nobody on the road, I slammed them on a good straight road on the snow, and by golly I just kept going! Stopped in a straight line eventually.

Finally want to do this mod after my displeasure with the ABS a few weeks ago. Are there any updated methods / ways to complete the ABS kill switch? I know of Rodstones and Landphils, sorry haven't looked at this thread for over two years... I've read a little bit about "pulling a wheel sensor," just wanted to see if there is an easier way to accomplish (not that those other write ups are tough)

Duratrac Tires with Bill 5100 set at .75 and AAL in back and the ABS is still stupid sensitive - in case anyone cares.

    Thanks all.

I did the Landphil method and interrupted the light green wire that goes to terminal IB1.

Landphil used a connector from a wrecked truck and removed the pin from the factory connector to make things a little more reversible. I went about it a little differently and used insulated spade connectors and cut the light green wire. If I ever remove the switch, I just have to unplug what I put in and plug the two spade connectors back together. Just make sure you use a male connector on one half of the cut light green and the female on the other, then put a male and female on the switch loop.

From there I ran two wires in a piece of loom over to the console area to an ABS Disable pushbutton from AirOnboard.

You can see it to the left of the USB port.

Getting here was the worst part of the job. I popped out one of the blanks and started fishing the loom with wire in it through the console. There is a path, just keep pushing and prodding until you find it. I zip tied the loom over to the left side of the truck where the connection is made.

This thread is talking about 2nd gen perceived ABS issues. Your truck is a first gen. Given its age I would say you need to service the entire brake system. You could have a leak or bad line somewhere especially if the truck still had the original brake fluid.

Need some insight on an issue I'm having with my ABS.
A few months ago I was out on a trail and my ABS light came on (I was in 4HI, so it shouldn't have disengaged) Checked all sensors and fluid and everything was fine, no damage done on the trail, figured I got a sensor wet. On the drive home it went off, and came back on a few times but ultimately stayed off until this morning.
I was very slowly coming to a stop sign, 5mph or slower in city traffic and all of a sudden my ABS kicked on (dry pavement) and almost didn't let me stop at the intersection, a minute or so later my ABS light came back on, I did a few hard brake presses and no ABS came on and all braking felt fine. I parked it at work checked all the sensors and fluid and everything seems to be fine, i'll start it up during lunch to see if the light went off.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Sounds to me like you may of pinched or pulled a wire leading to an ABS sensor. If the voltage going back to the ABS controller isn't correct you get the warning light and at best a faulty ABS system.
