So, even though I don't have auto headlights, I need to attach the auto wires so that my lights turn off with the remote start?

When you say auto lights, are we referring to the auto lights that come with the premium package and operate off a light sensor, or are we referring to the auto off lights that are standard on all tacoma?

No if you dont have auto lights you have nothing to connect

However you need to turn your lights to off when exiting the vehicle

That's just so the parking lights turn off after the 20 min cycle?

Guys I want to make something clear about AUTO-LIGHTS.

The 2 wires from the DBALL2 that you splice for the auto lights are ment to do one thing only. They make sure that if your car's light switch is in AUTO the headlights turn off after the remote start session is over(either time expires, door gets open, or u click 3 times the lock button on remote to shut it off). if your light switch is on anything else but AUTO, the car has fail safe feature to shut light off only when started normal (not remote start).
If you leave the switch on DRL or ON and remotely start the car if the 20 min running time expires and you don't go by the car it will be locked but the lights will be on(because the vehicle is waiting on you to open the door so it can trigger the fail safe LIGHTS OFF feature).

The guys with no auto lights---the same thing with the exeption that you don't have AUTO option on the switch. fail safe will trigger and do the job of shutting everything for you only if you start car normal(not remote start)

Got mine installed yesterday. Ran into a slight snag and hit Nick up. Ended up chatting on the phone for a minute and got it resolved. Good dude who is very knowledgable about wiring and had no qualms with helping me troubleshoot. Also gotta give a shout out to @GoGoStAm. I hit him up with a question and he immediately gave me his phone number to reach him. Ended up figuring it out but I thought it was very cool of him to be willing to help a forum member.

As far as the remote starter goes. Not much to say. It works. That's the important part. Install was pretty painless and the instructions were pretty clear. I ended up soldering everything because I'd rather know that it's never going to move. Some of those harness you tap into are pretty tight but I got the job done. Thanks again, Nick, for the help along the way!

What issues did you run into? Might help others in case they have the same problem.

Was just a grounding issue. The starter would work when the kick plate wasn't installed but then it wouldn't turn over when I put it on. The ground wire was a tad loose in the harness. No big deal. Finagled it a bit and everything is fine.

Received mine two days ago, but can't get the fam-damly out of the house long enough to get it installed! Oh well, they leave in two days and all will be right with the world again.

Just ordered the posi-tap 24-26 awg pack. I'll report back on fitment. I'm not a very good solderer so I figured this would make my life a little easier.

Those should be perfect! You'll still need to strip and splice the 12V wire but thats easy.

It's also been mentioned that you can pull the 12V plug from it's connector and solder to the crimp for an easily reversible solution. @GoGoStAm has a good picture of the connector removed.

Here's the end of the same connector; you'll insert a stiff metal object on the right side to disengage the locking tab holding the metal socket inside the white connector. A *small* jewelers screwdriver works pretty well.

Those are the normal 20-22 which would probably work also but I'd be a little concerned with the obdii wires since they're quite a bit smaller. Ebay has the mini-tapits which are 24-26's. http://www.webbikeworld.com/sale/posi-locks-for-sale.htm also sells them and has youtube videos of the posi line of products.
