I've been reading up on this for a couple of months now and searching, the best I can, on here, but still confused so please bear with me.
Here's what I have now (Came on pre-owned Prerunner I traded for a couple of months ago. As far as I know truck is not lifted).
    Mickey Thompson Classic Baja Locks
Practically brand new Cooper Discoverer H/T tires in P255/70R16

Want different wheels but can't afford to change tires until these wear out. I have no plans to lift the truck and the size of the wheels and tires is fine, I just want a different looking wheel.

After looking around locally and on the net, last night I found exactly what I want, that to me looks better than all the more expensive wheels I've seen. If these will fit my tires, I can afford to go ahead and get these.

They are Tacoma Trail Team TRD wheels in matt black. I found a bunch on ebay that say Trail Team 'style' for around $600 a set, and found some much more expensive ones that I guess are the originals (that I can't afford). I even found a source for what is said to be OEM, real deal, Trail Team wheels for $600 a set. There are a couple of differences in sizes though so I was hoping some of you could help me figure out if these wheels will fit my tires. I looked up those Discoverer H/T tire specs and they say approved rim width is 6.5 - 8 and measured width is 7.5.

    Option #1 (supposedly OEM)
Toyota FJ Cruiser 2007-2014 TRD 16" BLACK Alloy Rims Set OEM NEW! (doesn't specifically state that they fit Tacoma)
    Here's the write-up:
    16” x 7.5” fitment for use with
    • larger tires to maximize off-road performance
    • Rugged 6 spoke design
    • Unique matte black finish
    • Matching TRD center cap
    • Unique
    • Made by TRD for Toyota.
    • Low pressure cast aluminum.16" x 7.5"
    • 15mm offset.
    • 6 x 139.7 bolt pattern
    • Rim is TPMS compatible (stock FJ 20 degree sensor)
Option #2 (these are the 'knock-offs')
    Name:

    TRD STYLE

    Size

    F&R: 16x8.0

    Bolt Pattern

    6X139.7mm (6X5.5)

    Offset

    F&R: 15mm

    Color:

    MATTE BLACK

    Hub Bore Size:

    106 mm

    Quantity:

    1 Set (4 Wheels)

    Condition:

    Brand New

    Part No:

    W224SB1680.15

    WHAD0263

Option one seems like it would fit my tires. Both rims and tires say 7.5. But they say for FJ Cruiser and don't mention Tacoma. Plus, these say they are OEM and made by TRD but for the same price as the knock-offs, I don't know that they really are the real deal. I don't know if that really matters.
Option two says FJ Cruiser and Tacoma, but wheels are 8".
So, would one or both of these work with my current tires? Thanks for any help you can give me!

FJ wheels will fit the Tacoma. Knock off wheels (aka "style") are usually made in China and are not the same quality as OEM, likely also heavier. The OEM wheels are 7.5". The Trail team wheels are already one of the heavier OEM wheel options, I wouldn't get knock offs. Have a link for the OEM wheels you were looking at?

I don't know much about tire sizes and stuff. I did notice that the tires on my truck protrude just a little past my wheel wells. Maybe half an inch. I don't know if that's because the tires are that wide or if maybe there's spacers.

Yes you can run 255/70/R16. Stock Trucks run 265/70/R16. You can even go up a size over stock to 265/75/R16 with no lift.

The OEM wheels will pull the tires under the fender so they are close to flush with the fender. They will not stick out like the MT Classics.

Aw man... now I see they're on the other side of the country and local pickup only. Guess I'll see if the local dealer will sell me some.

The dealership ordered them for me. Will have them put on Saturday. As it turned out, the parts manager was an old boss of mine. He's buying my old wheels when they come off.
