Does anyone else browse COPART, IAAI or other Auto Auction sites?
This is how I ended up with my 2005 Tacoma 6 months ago, AZ doesn't require a dealer/dismantlers license to buy cars at auction (out of state registration may have different rules)

I would like to have a place where people can post their findings, it doesn't have to be Tacomas. You never know what someone may be in the market for.
Just because it's at an auction doesn't mean it has a salvage title or any real damage, some were donated or auctioned to pay bills or for convenience.

Right!! I learned this when we traded our vehicle in back in 2008. I negotiated a higher price for it than their super secret black book value (which showed a trade in value $4000 less than KBB trade in value). When all was said and done they expressed disappointment because they said they were going to have to sell it on their lot rather than sell it at auction to make a profit.

Also, growing up my Dad always bought at auction (he had a friend with dealer's license), and all of those vehicles turned out to be pretty reliable.

Most auto auction vehicles are trade ins from new car stores. So they are still good reliable cars but they traded in their chevy at a ford place so ford does not want it so they send it to auction to get their money back and sell it to a small car lot.

Most Texas auctions require you to have a Dealers License to be able to purchase.

How hard is it to get a dealers license (or a dismantlers license may be easier) and buy cars/trucks that are highly likely to be winners?
I've bought a few cars at auction and 2/3 were good cars. I made a decent profit on a 2008 Chevy Cobalt, I hated the stupid car, it was absolute rubbish. My Tacoma came from an auction and I immediately made a 2 hours drive back to my house.
