Are the 2016 skids generally backwards compatible with the 05-15s? Are the bolt holes in the same place? I want to buy a new ifs skid, and the 16s with the oil filter door are the same price as the 05-15s... I figure if I ever want to resell having a universal fit will make it easier. .

Is someone can confirm the distance from the rear of the cross member to the center of bolt and/or up the end of the skid ?
I would like to confirm if my slider mounting points will interfere with the rear Pelfreybilt skid plate. The slider were made by Beefed Taco.

    thanks, Martin

So 12 pages read and I didn't see anyone who touched this. I just picked up an All Pro IFS skid from a member and I'm planning on installing tomorrow. I really don't like the transmission skid or the transfer case from All Pro, so I would like to go with a different company.

I really like Pelfreybilt products and they are close to me so that would be preferred but I see on their sight that they required their IFS skid for the remaining to be installed. Would an All Pro work, or is there a different route I should go?

    Suggestions appreciated. Great thread!

Not sure how the all pro bolts on and looks like in the rear, but RCI skids tie into each other by simply overlapping. I installed all 3 skids and it seemed like they all could be installed independent of each other.

Pelfreybilt is a bit wider and covers the lower control arm cams

I can't help you a whole lot, but I agree. Thankfully the t-case skid is standalone from all companies. Since all pro doesn't have a reroute option.

I liked the mid skid because it was only 99 bucks.

If you care I can post a pic when it's installed. I'm sitting here waiting for UPS. It's a little skinnier but should still do the job of a skid in that spot.

I see this is in Garage, so I assume all models are welcomed...

I went with the full set of 3/8 steel from RCI on my third gen.

I chose RCI for several reasons.
    1. They overlap each other. I don't like the creases/gaps that hiding the hardware creates with most other companies.
    2. No stupid bump/knob where the cross over exhaust goes under. It loses some clearance, but I'd rather have the smooth bottom.
    3. Lowest price for all 3 together.
    4. Rear of transfer case design. I think their rear support is the strongest.

The only bad thing is the huge space between the transmission and its skid. A few other companies raise this area but I am ok with it because the whole system is mostly flat. So far, the transmission plate is the only one I've landed on or hit.

I'll get some pictures in a few minutes

Pelfreybilt aluminum IFS & Mid (rear skid probably coming soon). They've held up well to moderate abuse.

This guy makes skid plates and you can get custom cut outs etc. But I think he only makes them for the 1st gen crowd. The picture I'm posting is his very 1st Post. So things have changed since then and he now offers them for the manual & Auto crowd now too. E mail him for more info. I notice they don't cover the LCA's either as do most skid plates that were reviewed. Although a few do cover the LCA's. Or I see you can get BAMF LCA covers.

My skids have what I'd consider moderate to heavy abuse. They are Pelfreybilt steel skids.
They're fantastic! Can't believe they're not bent to hell.

why did you get a steel gas tank skid? That's the one I would have gone with aluminum

That's the opposite for me. My IFS skid hangs up most of the time. I've never touched the gas tank.

Mobtown Off-road here. Just ordered. Their 2.0 skids are reinforced 3/16 steel. Great coverage.

Here are my RCI skids in action. I have IFS, Transmission, and Transfer skids in 3/16 steel. I don't have a lift so they really dragged going down this ledge.

turn up the volume to hear em clank and grind!

Happy with my alu RCI but if I had to do it over again would choose pelfrebilt, it's wider and protects the lca cams and has less stuff to hang up on. Plus it bolts to the frame in an additional 2 spots.

Can anyone with a Pelfrey aluminum IFS skid on a 3rd Gen let me know if it has a hole for oil changes or if you have to pull the whole thing off every time?
