For recovery you should have a properly rated tow strap and recovery points front and rear. A hitch mounted shackle point is a good option for the rear

Thank you again. I'm lacking recovery and snatch straps, pulleys, etc. so I need to get my ass on that. I have a shackle hitch and recovery points up front. Also a high lift will make the trip with me.

Check out this Checklist that I have created, simple Excel spreadsheet that I print off and check off as I put stuff in the truck or in one spot in my house so that I know that I have it. Can customize it to your liking and what you may or may not need.

I pretty much fit everything in two of the Yellow top boxes that can be bought from Home Depot for like $9.00 a piece along with a Front Runner Box for the smaller stuff that I use the most. Makes it easy to check the list and then throw in the truck all at once.

As far as Recovery gear, it is not on that list as that stuff stays in my truck all the time but here is what I have.

Fire extinguisher - Less than $20.00 from Walmart for an automotive one
    Snatch Strap and Tree Saver
    Kinetic Recovery Rope
    Soft Shackle
    Two Pairs of Gloves
    ARB Tire Repair Kit
    Shackles
    Hi-Lift
    Shovel
    Axe
    Small Tool Kit
    Jumper Cables
I also keep a large med kit in the truck from Adventure Medical Kits along with a smaller one in the glove box.

I usually do a food list a couple days before and plan out meals and try and see what is the easiest that I am able to make on the trail. Stuff that can me made in one pan is always a good choice and stuff that can be made for Dinner and then reheated with some eggs in the morning works. One of my go too meals is just simple chicken fajitas that I get ready at the house, freeze in a ziploc and by the time I ready to cook they are thawed.

If you don't have a jack point like sliders or aftermarket bumpers skip the high lift.

I would never skip the shovel and axe, however.

Slowly building as the budget allows. Thinking I need expedite some straps and/or rope though... Anyone have suggestions for a good value brand? That Bubba rope is cool stuff but seems pretty pricey. $$$ I see Smittybilt a lot for fair prices regarding all sorts of equipment but the consensus seems to be that the brand quality is poor.

I have ARB straps and they are some well built straps, can be gotten from Amazon for a good price.

I'm kinda fond of Master Pull brand stuff but you really can't go wrong with most offerings on the market these days.

What's the rule of thumb on the strap rating? Quadruple the weight of the object being towed/recovered?

    No problem.

One thing that I really like, that besides the larger stuff like table, chairs, big canopy when needed... everything fits in two of the larger Yellow Top Home Depot storage boxes and one Front Runner Box. Easy to load everything up when it comes time.

@hoarder23 ... whether or not you get early depends on what work I have that needs to be done lol.

For others asking... we do not allow people in on Wednesday as there are contractual and insurance liability issues with have non-event people on site early. I apologize for the inconvenience. The gates typically open between 9 and 11am Thursday.

Secondly... if anyone is needed equipment and gear, you should know that most manufacturers of suspension and bumpers are rolling on a 4-6 week lead time, so don't wait to long to get your orders in.

TW members do get discount at RedDirtOffroad.com; just shoot me a PM. We carry all of the major brands, even if they are not on the website at the moment. We recently picked up Baja designs, Total Chaos, and Mombasa RTTs

I plan on rolling in sometime Thursday afternoon. 6 hours from SA. Plus the kiddo factor so it might be more like 12.:turtleride::bananadead:
