I did run Houston my Alexis as an option, as I really enjoyed my time there, but we decided that we wanted to be on the east coast.

and the neighborhood we want to build in allows golfcarts :D I told alexis that I swap the drive pulley on the lawn tractor and just zip around on that. then she pointed at a lifted cart on ATV tires running down the road and said why not that? she knows the way to my heart. but then she pointed out that it would win in a crash with the Fiero, and put me right back in my place

yes, not putting in the two weeks notice until I've signed the hiring papers with a new employer.
    the process will be:
-accept new job (could happen next week, could happen in two months)
    -put in 2 weeks
-put house in MD on the market
-move to Charleston. likely into an apartment for ~6 months
-contract new house as soon as MD house sells
    -build new house
    -enjoy life.

Reason for the change in the simplest form, is that I'm tired of working 12-14 hours a day, 7 days a week. 1 day off a month is a shitty way to live.

this was a fantastic first job to have right out of college, but I picked the job, and let it determine the location and my lifestyle. after 4 years of it, Alexis and I are in a position that we can pic the area first, and pick jobs that better fit the lifestyle we want to have. My wife is afraid of what I'm going to get myself into with a 40 hour work week, having worked 70-90 hour weeks the last few years :drevil:

All valid reasons and I wish you the best of luck finding something new. The market isn't the best at the moment, so I'll be very curious to hear what you find.

I'm going through month long spurts of 7-12's and that's bad enough. I didn't realize you were doing that full time. Yuck!

    Good luck bud!

Thanks! 7-12s wouldn't be bad with a break at the end, but we're on the 1 day off a month schedule right now.

not going to say anything specific until it's all finalized, but I've got an abnormally good connection to a job I'm pretty confident about in the aerospace industry down there. I have a number of backups as well though, just in case.

Folks in my neighborhood roll around in lifted golf carts and side by sides. Pretty amusing. I'm tempted to buy a golf cart for the sake of amusement.

Regarding the abnormally long weeks, I feel your pain. Been working same hours for fifteen years now. I'm a bit tired.

    Awesome.

Ever see a cooling tower or heat exchangers freeze up like that? It's funny as hell.

We have some undersized heat exchangers in the operational part of the plant that I swear have been a solid chunk of ice since since I first visited the place in 2014

    Lol nice.

When we had that big freeze some six or seven years ago, the refinery I was at shut down several units because many heat exchangers rupture at the dollar plate because they froze. I have some pictures somewhere.

Every once in a while, an old model kit pops up on Ebay. just happened across this one, sitting on the can last week, and put in a bid for it. pretty excited to build it. the only question now, is do I build it as a scale model and display it in the house or garage, or do I build out the body and part of the enterior, and fit it up to a 1/24 scale RC car? I have some rally tires for my 1/24 scale rc trophy truck, so I might have to mock it up just to see what it looks like
