I have a few surveying jobs that I can't do when there is snow on the ground. Have an aerial survey scheduled beginning of next week and any snow on the ground will delay it further. Bring on the mild temperatures!

This was New Year's Eve. Put 5 miles on, which is 5 miles more than last year. Hope we get a big storm like a few years ago so we have at least a month of riding.

The guy I am having fly the site still uses stereo photogrammetry. I need to educate myself more on LiDAR and see if it has plausible uses in my field (One of my projects is managing a quarry in Union CT and know it would be perfect there - for easy calcs of material quantities).

Finally ordered a set of TRED Pro's and mounts. After the last snow excursion and some dude on stock sport tires needing to be dragged for a while figured it was time. They're on sale too if you look in the group buy thread. 15% off sale then 10% off tacomaworld code on top of that.

Sounds like you office schmucks don't have to work outside all winter... On the windward side of a very exposed waterfront property. :D not cold enough my frost bitten testicles...

Meh. I had the same opinion about what was 'good' weather for the winter when I was working construction. I just wore a set of insulated coveralls, wool socks, and a wool hat when it was cold out and I was fine.

I had a couple of sets of these. Didn't matter how cold out it was when I was wearing them. And they're a dense, tight weave, so I never had any problem with wind penetration.

Those are a life saver when I am working in the wind and cold. Throw in a couple of toe warmers and I'm good to go.

The fact that it's one piece really helps, I think. Keeps the drafts from running up your back. I still keep a set around for working outside during the winter on the weekends. REALLY beats a jacket, especially if you're working on your back under a vehicle or something.

Almost everyone I ride with has sold out. Local riding in western mass has been short the past few years. I miss the years we rode before Christmas and into the beginning of April. Might have to travel north this year to get one ride in at least

Check out leather hunting boots. Some of those have up to 1200 grams of thinsulate, nice and toasty. I have a set with 600 grams in them and they are plenty warm for anything I do.
