Hardwood floors, 4 dogs, and I run the wheelbarrow to where I have a pile of wood inside (about 10 ft wide brick hearth, 1.5 ft left of insert for paper/kindling, 4 ft right if fireplace for tools and wood). There is always stuff on the floor from bark, needles, dirt and whatever else falling off. I also have 4 dog beds stretched in front of all this and more, which helps hide a lot of the droppings.

Yup, I have dark hardwoods throughout the house....a white dog, and a red cat..lol. Just got a 700-800 dollar Roomba for x- mas that thing gets everything. Best purchase ever...but I was skeptical.

Been on the range all week in NorCal with the cadets during the recent heavy storms. Fortunately there is a two sided range shelter with a roof and a wood stove. While I'm a decent firearms instructor, my talents with an axe and a lighter have been more valuable.

Was thinking today that I am a hypocrite....I have a green energy house ...but I love heating it with wood. I must be in my head too much. I did grow up with a wood stove, so I will claim it's childhood reminiscent.

Get one of the wood stoves that draws it's combustion air from outside. That should help keep the energy certification.
