Of the 12 seasons I think I have worked on around 7 or 8...

That's fine... hell it pays the bills... also you should probably direct some of that anger at the people that watch it making it discoveries highest rated original production...

Here is a photo of me from maybe 4 or 5 seasons ago? I can't remember.

Yeah, paying the bills is a convenient excuse for making the world a shittier place. Politicians, bankers, lawyers, war mongrels, and criminals of all sorts have said the same thing for probably as long as humanity has existed. And of course, watching that shit and creating demand for more stupidity is certainly not much better. A wonderful circle of social degradation where each involved party has an excuse. At least you can take comfort in knowing there are a lot more of you than there are of me, and nothing is likely to change any time soon.

I also have to say that entertainment aside people from the day they show up to the day they leave they are taught a lot... they will tell you they learned a ton if you ask them... I have seen it and from interactions with them they saying it... It's easy to pass judgment and blame technicians, producers and anyone that is involved... but the glorious thing is you don't have to watch it if you don't want...
It's like a plumber working on a church, you may not agree with what they are preaching with it but is it the plumbers fault?
It really sucks to have to defend your profession on the internet...

It's less "profession" and much more "choice of work." Whatever your skills, I'm sure they can be applied to hundreds of other applications that actually result in something good being done. I know that I've personally turned down at least two projects (that I can recall) which I felt dealt with unethical content. And I understand that not everyone is in a position to turn down work, and that like it or not, everyone has to put food on the table. You're just a drop in the puddle, but that doesn't mean the puddle doesn't stink.

It's great that the drivers learn something, but there are much better ways of teaching them driving skills than parading them on television.

As for the plumber analogy... I see your point, but that really depends on what the church is teaching, doesn't it? A different religion that is largely non-destructive is one thing, on the other hand, if that church taught hate and extremism, that plumber's work would play a negative role in the larger picture and I'd suggest he find some other pipes to fix.

I'm on a local Jeep forum. For the most part, surprisingly pleasant & welcoming fellas, regardless of what you drive.

Starting shit on TW is best done by comparing Gen 2 and Gen 3 models.

I'm just an eavesdropping US citizen here. I watched some of the clip that @Joe23 shared and learned that Canada's assholes are at the very least apologetic.

That's really awesome you've been on the show! I admit I'm a huge fan and have pretty much watched them all.
How many of those foam blocks do you have / make per season, and how many people does it take to set it a it up? What do you do on the show?
I think at the least the show gets some shitty drivers off the road, as well as teaching even experienced drivers such as myself a thing or two. If you pay attention. I hadn't realized the dead pedal is directly above the front wheel ( although it makes sense), as well as a few other things I've learned through the seasons.

There are probably close to 80 of us on set. Most of us are split between two units (two challenges) that run at the same time. Our assistant directors schedule the contributors and Andrew's arrival on each location. If you think about the challenges we run each one with the participants and Andrew. So the days can be quite packed (the assessment challenge is run 9 times in one day). Everything is real we just follow along and try and get the cameras where it will capture whats happening.
There is a lot of foam. There is an entire department (12 people or so) that builds the challenges and props. I would guess several semi trailers full of props (foam/boxes) are used each season. A lot get reused and repainted with the show colours for that year.
I am one of 5 guys that do all the specialty cameras, so all the in car and crash camera work is us.
