    Hey guys,

If it's not raining too bad this weekend, I'm thinking about taking a ride out to Durham Town http://www.durhamtown.com/
Have any of you been there, if so, what did you think of the place?
    Any interest in joining me?

I went there once, i had borrowed a 4 Wheeler and carried fuel and extra spark plugs for the bike guys I was with. Had a blast. I wasn't used to that kind of riding and was sore the next day.

Did I miss the price for a truck or is it the same as a sxs? Considering heading that way Saturday for a day ride if it doesn't monsoon.

If it rains, it's pretty interesting. I went with a bunch of friends. If youre 2wd with less than half decent tires you can forget about it. I pulled around 10 people out with my Polaris while I was there. I also got stuck to, but I don't want to talk about that.20170117_221257.jpg

Looks and sounds familiar. Hope the 4x4 trails are not just one big mud hole after another. Done a bunch of that on my old grizzly and the rzr. Took all day Monday to clean my truck after this weekends non maintained county roads in Butler...was fun though. One spot was where a beaver pond regularly over takes the road and the locals wear it out! My co-driver is local and hates my atrac now, calls it no fun and cheating!

I have friends that take their Rzrs all the time and they love it. I think it's just a series of mudpits with some trails thrown in, too.

If sxs are using the 4x4 trails I can just imagine the holes dug out by 16"+ of gc and 34" outlaws!

I have 4x4 and a new set of 33's on my truck but I am concerned about only having a couple trails and the rest mud holes... I have no interest in mud holes and I haven't installed relocaters for the diff breathers yet... Maybe I'll wait for a few weeks of dry weather and then check it out.

If we could come up with a moderate trail in North ga I'm game. Have straps and hi lift for recovery 265/70/17's and nearly 3in of lift. Day ride would work out great for me. I have a couple spots in mind but they are south and I have only seen them on the trail registry.

It's hard to find many good trails up here anymore. Everything has been shut down or paved. Most everything is just forest service roads anymore.

I did get some unconfirmed info that DT has tire size restrictions on 4x4 trails like 31 and under 33 and under. Not sure how accurate that is and sounds hard to enforce. Will call DT tomorrow and find out. Really interested in checking out the slab in Montevallo Alabama.

I feel like they are doing away with public access to anything outdoors....

Dicks Creek, Charlie's Creek, something wallow, FS roads in Helen area. There is a thread in Off roading and trails, trip reports on the Chattahoochee National forest from Dec with videos. Could I navigate any of those with Google maps?

Pi$$ on it! I'm gonna research stand alone GPS and download those gpx files. I feel like if somebody would just post "I am hitting a trail this weekend " people would join in. My bumper be here in a few weeks, winch next and I will be that guy. Just need a little more self recovery gear and I will go by myself...frustration...feel like a Honda commercial I wanna ride I wanna ride.....Any recommendations on a decent entry-level GPS unit to kick start the process?

Well me and @bryanbyers28 may be hitting some trails pending rain on Friday. We were gonna camp but rain killed that idea. Or may just do maintenance not sure yet

Don't think they are trying to do away with public access... More like protecting the public's natural resources.

Charlie's Creek Rd was a prime example - It was a county road that the county was not maintaining... So it became a popular off-road trail, with heavy use and lots of unauthorized side trails/hill climbs. Couple all that with the fact that it closely follows a trout stream most of it's length, and you run into natural resource damage and other issues. That one flat area down by the creek, with the mud hole and hill climb, were right in the riparian zone and funneling runoff/sediment directly into the stream.

If you want trails, the Forest Service has nearly 11 miles of offroad trails over at Beasley Knob OHV area near Blairsville.

AOP is only 2 hours from Atlanta so that'll be a place I plan to hit a lot more

@BYJOSHCOOK , I have Fridays off and all of the above is good for me. Trails, maintenance, a beer and some wings... I'm in Newnan so it will take me some time to get up that direction.
