Bilstein 6112 front, 5100's rear with blocks, camburg UCA, 17" XD's with 285/70/17 AT 3's and a blackout front grille.
Currently have 265/75/17's on KMC wheels with about 2 inches of lift. Want bigger tires to raise the ride height a little.

Wondering what all the 285/75/17 (big ole 33" tires) guys have mounted on wheels and what the dimensions are. Right now the 265's barely fit with the KMC 17x9 with -12 offset and 4.5 backspace.

I'm guessing 17x8 with -6 or 0 offset is what most people are using but I don't know!

    Thanks for reading.

I can't recall seeing 285/75R-17's installed on a 2" lifted Tacoma so I may not be much help, but an 8 -inch wide wheel with around -12mm to 0 offset may do the trick.

When you say your current set-up barley clears... where exactly are the tires almost making contact?

On a side note... Level 8 offers their MK6 in both 17x8 with -10mm offset and 17x8 with 0 offset; see the link below for details.

Just a bunch of old crap
I run 285/70/17 on 17x9 rims with 0 offset and I only had to trim a little bit of plastic to clear even at flex. 3" lift.

On a second gen 16x8 0mm or 17x8-8.5 0mm offset is what a lot of guys run but with only a 2 inch lift there is a lot of trimming, beating, and most likely modifying the cab mounts required to make this work if you plan on doing any off-roading. From what I understand the 3rd gen tacos do have a little more space in the wheel well

Before I put the bilsteins 6112's on the 5th and top notch (they were on the 4th), the tires were rubbing on the Cab mount. I was quite surprised as 265/75/17's are about stock size. I have come to the conclusion the wheels are not the right set up.

Trying to switch to the right wheels so when the current tires wear out, i'll upgrade to bigger with ease.

Thanks i'll check out the link.

Thank you for the additional details.

It sounds like you need to bring the assemblies inward. So with that in mind, here's how the MK6 with the two offset choices (0 and -10) will sit in comparison to where your current wheels sit now.

    • The front lip of the 17x8 ET0 MK6 will sit 1-inch further in towards the suspension
    • The front lip of the 17x8 ET-10 MK6 will sit 1/2-inch further in towards the susupension.
