try playing with your 4x4. Take it into 4low and then go 4high and drive for a bit before you go to 2wd. I noticed that my 4x4 wasnt letting go all the way and I was getting 13mpg and when it fully disengaged I got up to the 20's. Just thought I would see if that helped as it did mine. make sure you play with your 4x4 on dirt though.

That's a good thought, but I was one step ahead of you, I had already checked on that... I went to the dealer today, averaged 16.1 mpg on the way there (once again, bone stock truck). They checked and verified that the correct updates had been done. After that, they said there was nothing they could do... they had no advice whatsoever, other than slow down and hope you don't get rear ended, or "wait and see if another tsb comes out"... I'm kinda at a loss at this point

I had to take my 4x4 in and out of low like 4-5 time till i heard a loud clunk then my mpg shot up

I have been upset with my usual 16.5 MPG in town and yesterday went on a small trip.

Mostly interstate and stayed in mostly 5th and some 6th gear and got a high 24.3 MPG at 65-70 MPH ... took this photo of 23 MPG when I stopped after some city driving.

I was super surprised that my mileage was so good on the highway and and so low (16.5 MPG) in town.

Very happy with the highway mileage ... :)

PS: 2016 AC/LB ... V-6 ... automatic ... Undercover SE hard bed cover seems to help some too.

    2017 AC 4x4 2.7L/5MT. Mostly 45-65mph in town/country hills/curves.

Before WT mudflaps: 20.4 on 2 tanks
After flaps: 19.8 on 2 tanks

Something else occurred to me. Those of us who have the 8.75" rear are turning a bit more mass and will probably get less mileage than the 8.0" rears.

That sample size is really small and the difference too small to draw any real conclusion on the mudflaps.

    What's 8" and 8.75"?

I'm hoping it isn't valid. Only 1600 miles on the truck. I'm hoping for an increase after break in. Was surprised when the last 2 tanks were lower than the rest then I realized that the only change was the addition of flaps.

FWIW I drive the same route every day and rarely drive the truck other than to work and back. I'll update the mileage but won't likely remove the flaps due to living 1.5miles down a rocky dirt road.

8.75" ring gear in the rear differential.

Road trip back home with two tanks at 21.87 and 21.26 hand calculated @ 65-70mph. Hope summer blend does much better than this.

On the way out got 21.4, 19.36 for a 1/4 tank (didn't like the gas?) then topped off with 91 and got 21.37mpg.

    So consistently getting 21.4mpg @ 65-70 :-/

Did a real world drive test. Drove to Vegas 282 miles. Major inclines/declines. 75-80 MPH. 4 passengers, plus 200lbs of cargo. Still not bad in my opinion. Still had a 1/4 tank left of gas.

After 4163 miles I'm averaging 20.8 but my best tank has only been 21.9mpg. My normal commute has a lot of 40-55mph driving so my average is high. But I can't reach that damn epa of 23 highway. Ever - for a full tank, even on a highway/freeway road trip.

My 2015 TRD Sport averaged over 21mpg and my best tank was 22.3mpg, both ways it got better than this '17. For some reason my '13 TRD Sport only averaged 19, don't know why the big difference. It also had the pinging engine issue and the '15 didn't.

Just got back from an 898 mile road trip and did 22.6 on the way to and 21.9 on the way back. Three mountain passes each way.

That's combined mpg in my '08 6.7l Dodge CTD. Stock intake with 5" turbo back exhaust. She gets 26 on the open road. But can't beat the Taco for comfort.
