Whats your review on the Pedal Commander? You're talking about the brand, right? How does it differ after installation on your manual transmission?

it's nothing short of a massive difference. can't speak about the AT's, but for me this thing is pretty close to a total solution for the low rpm weak throttle response. if you look back at some of my posts i complain about that and why is there so much power out of range. i wasn't entirely sure i could live with this motor. for now, problem solved. but i still want a proper tune, hopefully to access direct injection under 2k rpm... maybe one day. I'd still use the Commander with it most likely. a very light press of the throttle, maybe 1/4-1/2 inch, and it just surges forward in 2nd, which i shift into at maybe 1500 or so. the Commander is set at about 35-40% only.

Does the commander help at all with blipping the throttle? In stock form the truck essentially cannot be blipped for downshifts. Its more like a press and hold.

it improves that for me. I know what you're referring to and i blip to rev match as well. the PC, in the settings I've tried so far, does ramp up the throttle input curve early in the revs, so a very little blip, much less than before, is needed. it does nothing for the hang, tho... i kinda consider the hang a feature at this point. i can release the clutch while it's hanging and get super smooth upshifts.

This is exactly what I was trying to refer to. It is definitely more of a press and hold. I never plan on racing this truck, but it would be nice to have quicker response. I feel like maybe a lighter flywheel would help with that?

whats the best place to buy it in terms of price and shipping? Direct site or 3rd party like Amazon? I read in another thread that they posted a TW coupon.

What do you mean? I rev match every downshift and have no issue blipping the throttle? Granted it depends on where you shift, and what gear you are going to. It is a little hard to properly blip the throttle a few hundred RPM's but say going from 3rd to 2nd at about 30-35 mph, no problem.

compared to most MT vehicles the throttle responds relatively slowly at low rpm. so it slows the blip. i don't find it aggravating, but it does need either me to change how and when i blip or changing the throttle curve itself... or both.

worth a try. as you browse through this forum you will clearly see it's not for everyone... there are dozens of avowed haters here and they will argue upa big storm all about it. of course not a single one of them have tried it which they all admit.. the irony. anyway, if you don't like it, return it!

btw mine originally came with the wrong harness and needed an exchange. you can contact Larry @LSartore first to get it right before ordering.

I hope I didn't mess up my clutch to much. Was hauling wet dirt, with a 1 yrd dump trailer. Had to put it in 4hi, ended up burning the clutch a little. Pretty pissed I tried to reverse, instead of just stick in 4lo.

I've noticed the same thing...Its gotten better to the point of having to look for it rather than having the surge be obvious.

Meanwhile, the Auto guys say that performance degrades after a few 1000 miles!

In town I shift at 2K rpms. Normal acceleration is 2500 RPMs. Freeway entrance is 3000 rpms or sometimes a bit more. 1st to 2nd gear requires a slow shift as everyone else has said. beyond that, its pretty normal.

One tip for cruising. The trick to getting good mileage in any manual is to be in the correct gear to hold the smallest throttle input. If you are in too high of a gear, you will lug and need more throttle. If too low of a gear, you will need too many rpms and a slightly higher throttle input. I find that 1500 RPM around town is sufficient for just holding speed. I'm getting slightly better than advertised economy overall.

this is about my current zone as well. i just crossed 2600mi, and the first 2k or so was 12-15mpg, so after things started smoothing out i started looking for the zone, and this is about it. yesterday my avg mpg was showing 18.6.

I agree. I found that some people don't believe in cold air intakes and/or throttle body spacers. I have installed each, at separate times. I can say that I'm overall happy with both changes. MPG is much better too, considering I never baby it.
