so i have been going crazy with this lately, but im replacing my facotry head unit, and want to keep the factory "sharkfin" sat radio antenna. i read that my 2015(late build) will eaither use the male or female SFA12M?F?

Anyone... i mean anyone! have any info on this.

i asked on Amazon, and got the "you either need the male or female" response.

I have the adapter to use the OEM shark fin and will be pulling mine apart shortly. I'll have an answer soon, likely this weekend.

When my installer hooked up my new headunit their was no connection to be able to use to the shark fin. I have a 2015. He put my XM antenna mounted on my dash in the middle because I did not want it on on my roof. My XM works fine no problem. Maybe this will help.

Let us know if this adapter will work on a 2015. I've been looking for a solution to this issue for over a year.

Crutchfield says it does not fit a 2015. Unsure how true that is, but they are usually ontop of what does/does not fit.

I purchased this one based on my research that others had used, only question is, is the truck use the male or female adapter. Different people seem to have different connectors. Male seemed more prominent, so that is what I went with.

    Male:
    http://www.tss-radio.com/lexus-gs-shark-fin-antenna-adapter-sfa12m.html

    Female:
    http://www.tss-radio.com/lexus-is-and-ls-shark-fin-antenna-adapter-sfa12f.html

However didn't end up using it or the XM module and returned my deck to stock to take a different approach to upgrading my system as I did not like how the steering wheel controls worked/didn't after the aftermarket head unit swap and numerous other aspects of the aftermarket head unit.

I just install a new head unit today. Looking at the connector it looks identical to his photo. However I wouldn't be surprised if Toyota changed it just slightly. If so just remove the connector and plug the cable in without the housing. Hot glue it in place and you shouldn't have a problem. I did the same thing when I had my Mazdaspeed3. never had a problem with connectivity.

Well, i just got the adapters in today, and i believe its going to work. Its kind of like a universal plug that will accommodate and subtle changes to the "pin" and "roundness" of the factory sharkfin plug. Also, it came with the adapter for the factory GPS to my ken wood headunit, so that's a bonus too

Didn't know if you had a nav unit so I didn't mention it. Works with pioneer units as well. Only thing I don't like is the the factory shark fin doesn't get really strong reception. So you'll lose Sirius under bridges, and nav will take a minutes to boot up.

Did you get to try the adapter yet and did it work? I'm anxious to get mine ordered if it worked.

Good news so far! both the Sat antenna and the GPS antenna adaptoers plug right in perfect, and appear to work!

ill be connecting everything over the next hour or so due to the headache of wiring... and will confirm

Anyone can help me out and tell me if I can use the shark fin antenna on my 3rd gen (2018) for the sat radio... my tacoma was not equipped with the pioneer xm module, I found it at ebay,,, but I want to connect the existing Shark fin antenna to the module... any idea of where can I find the existing cable, and what adapter I need.

My 3rd gen has only one GPS connector.

My Alpine HU wants a GPS connection and my XM module wants one also.

I tried to split the connection, but that causes an error. XM works fine but I found that Google maps won't work correctly (but Waze does). Apparently you can't split GPS cable connections directly.

Is there another connector I'm missing or do I just need to use the darn puck on my dash for the HU?
