Has anyone noticed a coating of some sort on their windows?
Almost like a repellent type coating?
    BUT not for rain?

The dealer did a crappy job (no surprise there) with detailing and there was still some residue of what I'm thinking was a sticker on the window so went to clean them today, while at it figured I'll clean all the windows and get a coating of rain repellent on it.

    was using this http://www.invisibleglass.com/Produ...leglass.com/Products/automotive/rainrepellent
    on the outside
then regular invisible glass (no repellent) on the inside windshield, then distilled water and vinegar on all tinted windows (works best and doesn't damage tint) but noticed it almost seemed like a coating of something on the window.

No clue what it is no matter what solution I was using you can see the coating in certain spots and feel it.
Trying to figure out how the hell to get rid of whatever it is, since all 3 of the above didn't really get rid of it that well.

Same issue on my Honda, almost like some silicone treatment used when manufacturing the glass. Going to try Rain X after cleaning with cleaner and newspaper. PITA whatever it is.

Ya, but you can take that off with your hands. No additives required.

Did you know it's based off the Fit? Love that it has a manual gearbox available.

I noticed something. Found a product from RainX called Xtream Clean or something. Its a fine abrasive I think and worked somwhat like a cleaner wax. Much better now. Takes lots of elbiw grease. Made the rainx work MUCH better!

Yep, there is a ton changed on it VS the Fit though, bigger engine, AWD if you so choose, for it's size, there is a TON of usable room inside. Not fast by any means, bit noisy
but handles decent and it does quite well on slippery roads in the winter. I just didn't feel like dealing with Toyota again, their biggest downfall is their dealers, salesmen and that they seem to make game playing the norm when buying a vehicle. Their [toyota] audio seems to be spec'ed from Kraco from the early 80's from what I can tell unless you buy the top of the line system.

I have both the Duragloss nu-glass and the rainX extreme stuff that was mentioned. In my experience, The Duragloss is a more effective product.

They're both similar products. Wipe them on and they become chalky and eventually dry out. You're left with what kind of feels like a dried talcum powder paste covering/stuck onto the glass. I'm sure there's a chemical cleaning component to them. And I think after it dries out, when you buff it off, there's some mild abrasive action going on with the powdery residue. When you wipe the residue off, it's powdery. If you shake the towel it will be dusty. You'll also see white "dust" particles on the window that blow off with ease.

Can you use it on interior glass? Sure. I can't see it hurting anything, although I'd be careful with after market tint film applied to interior glass (I think our taco glass would be safe). That said, I wouldn't want to get the white dust/residue stuck in gaps in the interior. Not gonna hurt anything but could be kinda messy.

I saved that pic awhile back and use it as a signature attachment on every email I send my boss.
No witty comments, just the pic and a simple question...Still driving your Subaru?
