    Okay....

I stated what I do mostly to clarify that not all microfiber towels are the same so someone doesn't f' up their cluster with a cheap ass bit of sandpaper labelled as microfiber.

I don't really care if someone's using unicorn manes, I've always considered clear plastic instrument cluster panels to be pretty fragile things and assume they're easily scratched. That it proves true is no surprise.

Yup. This plastic is pure shit. I deal in polycarbonate plastics. I didn't know you could get such shit. Another win.

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
Didn't see this when it was posted because i wasn't quoted. My apologies for the delayed response.

I dont think that there is one thing that Toyota will do to make this right for me or anyone else who as an issue with it. It's about collective discussion and future decisions when it comes to what vehicle you purchase due to the impessions made by what you've owned. My '92 22re P/U was bullet proof. $8298 brand new from Atlanta Toyota. My payment after down payment was $189.41 for 48 months. See, I am a guy who remembers things... details. Every nut and bolt on that truck said pure Japanese attention to detail and quialty. I have been a Toyota fan ever since.

5 toyotas later, my opinion of them as a quality powerhouse is changing. If enough people like me keep having experiences similar to this or on a larger scale with more vital parts, (shitty tranny, seizing rear ends, etc.) sales will drop and action will be taken.

I initally replied to this thread to share my similar experience with the OP. You chose to question the validity of my opinion. I choose to question why the hell you care if i have one at all. If you didn't like it, scroll on past brother.

Agree to disagree and move on.

These plastic lenses scratch super easy .. it won't matter what you use .. compressed air is about the only way to remove any dust without scratching. Even with a soft cloth or swiffer duster you are still wiping across the soft plastic lens and any small particles of dirt on the plastic will scratch it. You don't even notice till one day your sitting in your truck and the sun hits your cluster lens just right and you see all the micro scratches

This is well said. Free speech is an important gift that we have in this country. Used properly, as I believe Outlier did, it can bring about positive change.

Yes they do! And not just Lexota. Audi, Volvo, BMW, they all use plastic gauge lenses that scratch easily. I found some microfiber glass towels online several years ago, they are very soft and great for cleaning tinted windows. Wish I remember where I got them! I use one with lots of ammonia-free glass cleaner, cleans with minimal scratching.

It's been a few months for this thread, but I'm wondering if anybody has removed/replaced their cluster lens (2017). Dealer prep left scratches in mine. I'd like to polish it or replace it. It's a cheap part, so, if it isn't difficult, I think I'll replace it. I know you pull the dash trim, which appears to pull out fairly easily with fingers. My question is whether the cluster lens is easily removed once the trim is off? I don't want to pull the trim if I can't get the lens off at that point. I'd appreciate any advice/experience. Thanks.

I believe someone earlier mentioned that canned air can push dirt and dust particles past the trip odometer stem and get trapped inside.
I wonder is this gel type dust collector would work without scratching:

I held the swiffer duster over the stem and only did a couple quick blasts, don't think any dirt is going thru.
