(this isnt my truck, but on a setup like this what good are the roof racks over the cab. seems liek the cap would get in the way quite often)

I am in the market for a new cap,....just about to order the Leer 180, for my long bed double cab

I have a couple of questions / things im concerned about

With the rise in the cap, being not bed height, will this make carrying most things on the factory racks over the cab hard? I have the factory racks mounted over the cab

Im thinking about ladder, skis, yuppy box etc. and the difference in the height from the Leer-180 inhibinting me from carrying anything long up there. Of course I could put racks on the cap, and most likely will....im just not sure if putting a basket up on the cab would be my only option for still using the racks over the cab

should i choose a cab height cap instead? I see this as taking away some of the usability of the higher cap, but allowing me to have a pretty levelnroof over the cab and cap

thanks for the help, sorry im not able to better articulate...hope it makes sense!

A cab level cap with roof racks would work well. You could use all four to distribute weight, if they line up. I had an 09 with an are mx cap, and I though it looked good but my 16 dclb with the same model cap I didn't like the look. At some angles it just looked funny to me. Can you put some tower racks on the factory racks?

Would it be possible to elevate the roof racks a few inches to level it out? May have to fabricate something but I could work. -Damon

I would swap my regular height cap for a raised cap in a heart beat now after living with the regular height cap for just over two years now. I would gladly deal with the however more difficult it may be to load/unload the extra height.

though technically I cant answer the OPs question really since I never lived with a tall cap... yet.
