Hoping im in the rite spot, i screwed up my truck and looking for some good help. I was trying to move a 10x12 shack on my vacation property. Had it up on logs to roll on with a snatch block and cable, useing the 4hi was working but was getting some random tire spinning on the sandy soil so i tried switching to 4lo without properly brake,neutral,switch... Alarm started beeping but in the heat of the moment jumping in and out of the truck making sure kids were staying safely away and rigging was all still in place forgot it was still switched to 4lo. The alarm had stopped going off and it was still in 4hi. Got back to the road and had a difficult time getting out of 4wd but eventually did. 4lo light continues to flash and will not allow any 4wd function. No codes show at the parts store. Any good advise other than a hefty bill at the shop? Much appreciated

Previous to my post I did disconnect the battery for about a half hr while doing an oil change, how long does the computer need to "reset"? Are there fuses i can check, relays,... Could the switch itself have gone bad? I checked the plugs(on the two sensors? And actuator) on the transfer case, looked fine. I tried to pull the(what i think are sensors)out but fluid started coming out so i just put it back in. Anyone know if there is a way to test these without removing or manually shift it into 4wd?

I recently had front diff actuator problems as well. The FSM is pretty thorough in troubleshooting techniques for the 4wd system (as in how to measure resistance/voltage at the switch and actuator). There are two actuator motions when switching from 2wd to 4wd. One in the transfer case and one in the front diff.

Most people on here just replace the actuator. I'm a little more anal retentive and took apart the actuator to figure out what was actually wrong:

If you want to manually test the actuator, you can unplug it from the harness and manually apply +12 volts and ground to pins 1 and 2. +12 to pin 1 and ground to pin 2 will engage. Flip the power and ground on the leads and it will disengage.
