so my taco needs new tires. the 285/75/16 that were on the truck when i got it have served me well but they are old and dry rotting. i do run trails but now have small camping trailer to tow at times. a local has a set of 265/75/16 that i could swoop up.
the all important question of, should i go with the smaller size?
    285/75/16 or 265/75/16

IMO, it will look funny being lifted and having the baby tires!

figured smaller might help with the towing a bit cause i think the gears are still stock ratios. i just wasn't quite sure how they'd end up looking with the truck being lifted.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.

It really won't look that bad. It's an almost 33 to an almost 32. I've got them on my 1st gen tundra with 2.5" of lift.

If you have to ask us if you need 285s then you don't need 285s

I could use larger tires, 33's are next, but am on 265/75/16's now, lifted 2.5" or so, it wont look awful

i know i don't need them but this is my first real 4WD and taco so i was looking for some general feedback in terms of real life use from the TW. the 285s have done well. i just have the chance to pick up a new set from a local and they're obviously smaller

265/75/16 is my vote. Wish I would have got this size when I first lifted my truck. I down sized from 285/75/16. I thought the smaller size wouldnt look right but it isnt bad at all. But I gotta say I havent been wheeling yet with the smaller size.....

Real life use? The only provide clearance for offroad. On pavement they decrease performance in every aspect. That's it.

    Workin' on it....
    Exactly.

If you can't make it somewhere on 265's, 285's likely won't help either.

You could also look into 255/85/16.

FWIW, I'm running 265/75/16 and will probably go with a 255/85 for my next set of tires.
