Tips and Tricks on the 3rd Gen Tacoma

Anyone know of a way to keep the map on large screen, or radio on large screen, instead of going back to the main split screen after 30 seconds?

 

On your radio. Press apps>general>click on auto return to home screen.

 

You can also set it to always default to home screen after a few seconds.

 

I run with my Rigid Fogs and DRLS on all the time in parking light mode.
When i shut off my truck and open the the door the lights turn off automatically.

Love that feature, even if the headlights are on, itll do it.

 

I can't get my text messages to display on my screen? I have the premium and technology with JBL. I'm ready naming an iPhone 5s latest iOS and no Entune. I've paired it and everything else works fine.

I've followed the following instructions in post #1:
If your iPhone message aren't showing up on your multimedia screen, go to Settings --> Bluetooth --> Toyota --> activate "Show Notifications" (Thanks Peto48)


Anyone have thoughts?

 

I had to go into both my phone and truck's bluetooth and choose to forget each other. Then re-pair them together again and my messages started to show up.

 

Mine is completely random. Sometimes it pops up and only lets me ignore. sometimes it doesn't pop up at all. Sometimes it pops up and lets it read it to me or ignore. Usually the ignore only is an imessage... i can't figure it out.

 

I was just at my local dealer and discussed this with a service tech. He says they are aware of the issue (and also of the head unit reboot) and it tends to be specific to iPhones. The reboot or text issues have been known to arise after the iPhone does an update (which the truck isn't ready for). and iPhones have updates alllll the time! He said the best answer (not necessisarily a cure) is to unpair/forget and the re-pair the phone.

 

that was the first thing I tried was un-pairing and forgetting both devices... done that twice now to no avail. I've also tried just on Bluetooth as well as having my lightning cord plugged into the USB and phone connected. Neither one of those popped anything onto the home screen. I have my home screen on default - Top left = Audio, Bottom left = 4 Contacts, Right Side = Nav.

does any of that matter?

 

Do you have any contacts set up in the bottom corner?
If so, get rid of your them... it makes no sense but it works (I had the random message issue and this fixed it right up)

It's not an iphone update issue if a different setup on the head unit works fine, just glitchy software...

ok, just got back and tried removing the contacts from the home screen. that didn't work either

I removed the contacts, and even removed that from the home screen altogether by going from 3 to 2 (split screen). then I disconnected, removed and forgot both devices, restarted my phone, restarted the head unit and re-connected everything. from there it connected as usual, and then a screen pops up saying it's interacting with the phone and I may need to do something on my phone, but nothing pops up??? after about 30 secs, that screen goes away and goes to a black screen showing it's connected and something like phone/music...

any other suggestions? do I need Entune? Does the text to screen work over just Bluetooth, or Bluetooth and/or when connected through a lightning cable.

i'm at a loss

 

sorry dude, I'm all out of ideas...

Mine was fixed by removing quick contacts (from the phone app and the screen), forgetting both devices and reconnecting again... worked great ever since.

oh, did you turn on "show notifications" on your iPhone again?

I've got an issue when I play a voicemail through bluetooth. They play through the bluetooth for about 4 seconds and then will end call before the voicemail is done. Any suggestions?

 

Make sure notification settings in audio/phone are to your liking and secondly make sure notification settings for entune app etc are set for your liking.( banner, pop up, whatever).

 

Im an old and stupid guy with a fancy new truck.
When i first got it 3 weeks ago, when i approached the truck at night the interior lights would come on. I thought that was really cool. I guess ive played with enough buttons that it no longer does that.
How do I get it back?
